Incident Summary – Day Shift Thursday 17th May

 

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

 

Making safe – West Ayton

Time of call: 0820 hours

A fire engine and aerial ladder platform from Scarborough has been called to a large tree which had fallen between 2 domestic properties and was in an unsafe position. Crew used reciprocating saw, hand saw and a triple extension ladder to remove branches that where a threat to the property.

 

False alarm – Wigginton Road, York

Time of call: 0841 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to aerosol spray.

 

River rescue – River Ouse, Cawood

Time of call: 0959 hours

A crew from Acomb and the boat from York have been called to reports of a male believed to be suffering an angina attack on a boat. Crew searched the river and located the boat then towed it back to Naburn to allow ambulance crew to given male a precautionary check up.

 

Bin fire – Parliament Street, York

Time of call: 1215 hours

A crew from Huntington have dealt with a bin fire. A bucket of water was used to extinguish it and the cause is believed to be accidental.

 

Road traffic collision – East Parade, Harrogate

Time of call: 1330 hours

Crews from Harrogate and Knaresborough have dealt with a road traffic collision involving 2 cars. The female occupant of 1 vehicle was out on our arrival and received first aid from fire crew for minor injuries. 1 female was trapped in the other vehicle. She has been extricated by crews using hydraulic cutting equipment and rope ratchets. Both females have been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

 

Animal rescue – River Ouse, Cawood

Time of call: 1337 hours

York boat crew have rescued a bull from the river after they came across it whilst they were returning from a previous incident. Crew used small tools to guide the bull towards the river bank, up the side and back into the field.

 

False alarm – Osbaldwick Village, York

Time of call: 1344 hours

A crew from Huntington has responded to a smoke alarm in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to smoke from a boiler.

 

Road traffic collision – Acomb Road, York

Time of call: 1510 hours

A crew from York has been sent to make safe two vehicles following a road traffic collision between a Volvo and a Seat. No persons were trapped or injured. Crews used small tools to make the vehicles safe.
