Light fitting fire – Grange Avenue, Tadcaster

Time of call: 0747 hours

2 fire engines from Tadcaster have been called to a smell of smoke in a commercial property. A search of the premises revealed a small fire in a light fitting. Damage was limited to the light fitting. The crews used 2 breathing apparatus, a thermal imaging camera and hand tools. The cause is believed to be an electrical fault.

False alarm – A64, Staxton

Time of call: 0805 hours

A crew from Sherburn has been called to reports of a can fire. This was a false alarm due to a blown turbo. No action taken by fire crew.

False alarm – Stainsacre Lane, Whitby

Time of call: 1242 hours

A crew from Whitby has been called to a smoke alarm activation in a public property. On our arrival, this was discovered to be fire in a microwave in a staff room. The property was evacuated and the microwave was unplugged and removed from the building.  Crew carried out an inspection only and the cause is believed to be an electrical fault.

Bedroom fire – Alness Drive, York

Time of call: 1311 hours

A crew from Acomb has been called to a domestic property following a fire in a bedroom earlier in the day. An electric lamp appears to have caught fire then spread to adjacent carpet and bedding. 1 sq meter of fire damage has been caused and the whole of the first floor was smoke logged. Smoke alarms were fitted in the property, they activated and raised the alarm. The cause is believed to be an electrical fault in the bedside lamp. Advice was given to the occupant.

Lorry fire – Pot Moor High Road, near Masham

Time of call: 1326 hours

Crews from Masham, Bedale and Ripon have been called to a lorry fire. The 7.5 ton vehicle suffered 100% fire, heat and smoke damage to the whole of the vehicle and it’s contents of parcels. Crews used 2 breathing apparatus, 2 hosereels and hand tools. The cause is believed to be an engine fault.

Ring removal – Scarborough Fire Station

Time of call: 1506 hours

Scarborough crew have removed a ring from a female after she attended the fire station. Ring cutters were used and the female was uninjured.

False alarm – A1 southbound between Boroughbridge and Allerton Park

Time of call: 1535 hours

Crews from Boroughbridge and Ripon have been called to reports of a van on fire on the A1. This was a false alarm due to a blown engine.
