Incident Summary – Day Shift Thursday 2nd March

 

Boiler fire – Thurston Road, Northallerton

Time of call: 0905 hours

2 crews from Northallerton have dealt with a biomass boiler on fire in a commercial property. This has resulted in fire damage to the boiler itself and smoke damage to the room of origin. Smoke alarms were fitted and have activated. The cause is believed to be a mechanical fault on crews have used 1 breathing apparatus, a thermal imaging camera, 1 hose reel, ladder and hand tools.

 

Road traffic collision – A19, Raskelf

Time of call: 0925 hours

Crews from Easingwold, Boroughbridge and Ripon have attended a serious road traffic collision involving a HGV and a car. The male driver of the HGV was not trapped and suffered minor injuries. Crews assisted Police and Ambulance crews on scene. The road was closed for some time. Incident left with Police.

 

Van fire – A170, Kirkbymoorside

Time of call: 0955 hours

A crew from Kirkbymoorside has dealt with a jump start pack on fire in the rear of a van. This has resulted in fire damage to a quantity of cardboard and the van itself. The driver used a dry powder extinguisher prior to our arrival. Fire crews carried out an inspection only.

 

False alarm – Heslington Road, York

Time of call: 1154 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the system.

 

Bin fire – Aberdeen Walk, Scarborough

Time of call: 1258 hours

A crew from Scarborough has dealt with a small fire in a bin. The cause is believed to be a dropped light and the crew used 1 hose reel to extinguish.

 

False alarm - Lancaster Park Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 1429 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to workmen on site.

 

Minor road traffic collision – A167, South Otterington

Time of call: 1445 hours

A crew from Northallerton has been called to a minor road traffic collision involving 2 cars, one of which was believed to be on fire. This was a false alarm due to steam from the hot engine. Crew assisted Police to make scene safe.

 

Assist Ambulance – Bishopthorpe

Time of call: 1535 hours

A crew from York and the line rescue crew from Tadcaster have been called to assist Ambulance transfer a male casualty from a first floor roof after he had fallen from a velux window. 1 male has been lowered to the ground floor using a stretcher, various ladders and line rescue equipment. Male then taken to hospital by air ambulance with suspected chest injuries.

 

Road traffic collision – A66 near East Layton

Time of call: 1614 hours

A crew from Richmond has attended a road traffic collision involving 3 LGV’s. No persons were trapped. 1 male driver suffered a minor leg injury and received treatment from paramedics on scene. Highways attended and dealt with a small fuel leak. Fire crew assisted with scene safety.

 

Bin fire – St Denys Road, York

Time of call: 1700 hoours

A crew from Acomb has been called to a bin fire involving a small recycling box. The cause is believed to be deliberate. The fire was out on arrival and crew carried out an inspection only.
