Incident Summary – Day Shift Tuesday 17th July

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Road traffic collision – A19, Shipton

Time of call: 0758 hours

Crews from Acomb and York have dealt with a 2 vehicle road traffic collision involving a BMW and a Fiesta van. 1 male was medically trapped in the car and was extricated by fire crew using hydraulic cutting equipment. He has been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police & Ambulance also attended.

False alarm – Kingsway North, York

Time of call: 0827 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown cause as the system was reset prior to our arrival.

False alarm – Clifford Street, York

Time of call: 0848 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to testing on the system.

Animal rescue – Main Street, High Bentham

Time of call: 0851 hours

An Officer has been called to reports of 2 small dogs stuck on the roof of a commercial property. The two had climbed up external stairs and onto the roof then become stuck. Fortunately they had been rescued prior to our arrival and were unharmed.

Grass fire – Stainburn Woods, Beckwithshaw

Time of call: 0957 hours

A crew from Harrogate has dealt with shrubbery on fire measuring approx. 20 sqm. Crew used a knapsack sprayer and hand tools to extinguish. The cause is unknown.

False alarm – off Guisborough Road, Great Ayton

Time of call: 1023 hours

A crew from Stokesley has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to burnt toast.

Water leak – Victoria Park Avenue, Scarborough

Time of call: 1038 hours

A crew from Scarborough has been called to a flooding in a domestic property. This involved water leaking from a faulty boiler and affecting a mains wired smoke alarm system. Crew isolated the boiler and gave advice.

Fire in open – Between Langton and North Grimston

Time of call: 1130 hours

A crew from Malton has dealt with a muck heap on fire in the open measuring approx. 3m by 4m. Crew used 1 hosereel jet and pitchforks. The cause is spontaneous combustion.

Fire – off Street Head Bank, Newbiggin

Time of call: 1258 hours

Crews from Leyburn and Hawes have been called to reports of a gas cylinder on fire. The fire was out on our arrival and crews carried out a full inspection for hotspots using a thermal imaging camera. The cause is believed to be a fault on the cylinder.

False alarm – St Marys, York

Time of call: 1334 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to the system being tested.

Kitchen fire – off Hipswell Road West, Catterick Garrison

Time of call: 1634 hours

A crew from Richmond has been called to a grill pan fire in a semi detached house. This resulted in minimal fire damage to the grill pan only. The fire was out on our arrival and crew carried out inspection only. The cause is believed to be an accumulation of grease.
