Incident Summary – Day Shift Tuesday 23rd August

 

Water leak – Hinderwell Place, Scarborough

Time of call: 0755 hours

A crew from Scarborough has dealt with a water leak in a residential property. The crew used hand tools to isolate the water supply.

 

False alarm – Brunton Road, Austwick

Time of call: 1217 hours

A crew from Settle has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

 

False alarm – Portholme Road, Selby

Time of call: 1236 hours

A crew from Selby has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault in the system.

 

First aid – Skinner Street, Whitby

Time of call: 1240 hours

A crew from Whitby has administered first aid to a female pedestrian who had fallen near the Fire Station and broken her leg. The crew administered first aid until the arrival of the ambulance.

 

Rescue – Chantry Avenue, Upper Poppleton

Time of call: 1302 hours

A crew from York have rescued an elderly lady from the bath after the failure of her bath chair. Manpower was used and the lady was left with her carer.

 

Grill pan fire – Stonebridgegate, Ripon

Time of call: 1346 hours

A crew from Ripon has been called to a grill pan fire in a ground floor flat. The fire was out on arrival. Damage was caused to the food item under the grill and there was light smoke damage to the flat. 1 elderly female received a precautionary check up on scene by paramedics. Fire crews used oxygen therapy. Smoke detectors fitted, activated and raised alarm. The cause was cooking left unattended.

 

False alarm – Kirkby Road, Ripon

Time of call: 1521 hours

A crew from Ripon has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a low battery in the smoke detector.

 

Unsafe guttering – Station Road, Filey

Time of call: 1528 hours

A crew from Filey has attended a residential property which had a length of guttering in a dangerous position over a foot path. Crew used a 9m ladder and manpower to remove the guttering.

 

River rescue – River Ouse, York

Time of call: 1615 hours

Crews from Acomb, York and Huntington have been called to reports of a female in the river Ouse near to Lendal Bridge. She was rescued from the river by a passing tourist boat. Crews administered first aid and left female in care of Police and ambulance personnel.
