Incident Summary - Day Shift Tuesday 2nd August 2016

Road traffic collision – A19, Easingwold Time of call: 0831 hours

Crews from Acomb and Thirsk have been called to a 2 vehicle road traffic collision. The incident involved a Volvo S80 and a Ford Fiesta. The male driver of the Volvo was not trapped but suffered chest and potential neck injuries. The male driver of the Fiesta was trapped in the vehicle and was released by Fire Crews. He also suffered chest and potential neck injuries. Both casualties have been taken to hospital by road ambulance. Crews have used, 1 hosereel, a dry powder extinguisher, small tools and a winch.

Car fire – Acaster Lane, York Time of call: 0940 hours

A crew from York has dealt with a car fire involving a Land Rover Discovery. Fire damage was caused to the engine and dashboard. The crew used 2 breathing apparatus and 1 hosereel jet. The cause is believed to be an electrical fault.

False alarm – Newmarket Street, Skipton Time of call: 1144 hours

A crew from Skipton has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to the accidental activation of a break glass point.

Road traffic collision – A1 northbound, J50 Baldersby to J51 Leeming Time of call: 1227 hours

Crews from Thirsk, Knaresborough and Ripon have attended a road traffic collision involving a car and a HGV. 1 male was trapped in the car and has been extricated by fire crews and taken to hospital by air ambulance with spinal injuries. Fire crews used stabilisation struts, hydraulic cutting gear, blocks, chocks and small tools.
