Incident Summary – Day Shift Wednesday 11th January

 

Dangerous structure – Cavendish Street, Harrogate

Time of call: 0628 hours

A Fire Officer has assessed roof tiles falling from a residential property. Advice was given to the occupier. No further action taken by Fire Service.

 

False alarm – Alcuin Way, York

Time of call: 0742 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

 

Effect entry – Fairway, Selby

Time of call: 0748 hours

A crew from Selby has been called to a residential property after an elderly resident and 2 carers became locked inside due to a broken door. The crew used small tools to release the door.

 

Derelict garage fire – Wood Lea, Byram

Time of call: 0804 hours

Crews from Tadcaster and Pontefract have dealt with a fire in a row of derelict garages. There was fire damage to the waste contents in one of the garages and heat and smoke damage to it’s structure. The cause is believed to be deliberate and crews used 1 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel, a positive pressure ventilation system and small tools.

 

Dangerous structure – Goodramgate, York

Time of call: 0851 hours

A crew from Acomb has removed a sign from a dangerous position above a commercial property. They have used a triple extension ladder.

 

Lift rescue – George Hudson Street, York

Time of call: 0928 hours

A crew from Acomb has rescued a male from a stalled lift car in a commercial property. The male was uninjured and the crew used lift keys and small tools.

 

False alarm – Hospital Road, Malton

Time of call: 0953 hours

A crew from Malton has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to workmen.

 

Dangerous structure – Broomfield, Birstwith

Time of call: 1006 hours

A Fire Officer has assessed a dangerous roof on a domestic property. Advice was given and the incident was left with the occupier and a local builder. No further action taken by Fire Service.

 

Dangerous structure – Seavegate, East Ayton

Time of call: 1155 hours

A crew from Scarborough has been called to a tree which had fallen over a public road and brought down power and telegraph lines. The crew used an axe and reciprocating saw to remove the tree. Incident left with the local Council and power companies.

 

Effect entry - North Marine Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 1228 hours

A crew from Scarborough have gained access to a flat after the occupier had become locked out and had left the oven on inside the property. Crew used a short extension ladder.

 

Person rescued – Ings Lane, Skipton

Time of call: 1310 hours

2 fire engines from Skipton have been called to a male trapped under machinery in an industrial property. Crews removed the machine from the male and provided first aid until the arrival of ambulance. 1 male taken to hospital with non life threatening crush injuries. Crews used first aid kit, blocks and hand tools.

 

False alarm – Harmby Road, Leyburn

Time of call: 1407 hours

A crew from Leyburn has responded to a smoke detector in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to test being carried out on the system.

 

Road traffic collision – Strensall Road, York

Time of call: 1617 hours

Crews from Huntington and York have dealt with a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a Toyota Auris and a bus stop. No persons were trapped. 1 male received a precautionary check up from Paramedics on scene but appeared uninjured. Crew made the vehicle safe using hand tools.
