Incident Summary – Day shift Wednesday 17th August


Roof fire – Plumpton Park, Harrogate

Time of call: 0735 hours

Crews from Harrogate, Knaresborough and Boroughbridge, along with the aerial ladder platform from Harrogate, have been called to a fire in the roof cavity of a commercial property. Slight fire damage was caused to less than a square meter of roof space. Our crews used a wild fire back pack and a thermal imaging camera.


False alarm – Great North Road, Ledsham

Time of call: 0742 hours

A crew from Tadcaster has investigated reports of a fire in the open. This was a false alarm due to controlled burning under supervision.


Hedge fire – Malton Road, Hunmanby

Time of call: 0944 hours

A crew from Filey has dealt with a hedge fire. The fire was out on arrival and the cause was accidental.


Gorse fire – Gallowgate, Richmond

Time of call: 1039 hours

A crew from Colburn has dealt with a fire involving 6 sqm of gorse. The cause was deliberate and the crew used 1 hose reel.


False alarm – Stonegate, York

Time of call: 1111 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.


Woodland fire – Waithwith Road, Catterick Garrison

Time of call: 1141 hours

A crew from Richmond has dealt with a fire in a plantation approximately 5m by 8m. The cause was accidental and the crew used 1 hose reel jet.


Bin fire – St Leonards Place, York

Time of call: 1147 hours

A crew from York has dealt with a bin fire. The cause was accidental and the crew used buckets of water.


Property fire – Newborough, Scarborough

Time of call: 1221 hours

2 crews and an aerial ladder from Scarborough have dealt with a fire to wooden cladding on the exterior of a commercial building. This has resulted in approximately 5 sqm of damage to the cladding. The cause is believed to be a dropped light and crews have used 1 hose reel jet.


Road traffic collision – A64 eastbound between Tadcaster and Bilbrough

Time of call: 1235 hours

Crews from Tadcaster, York and Acomb have been called to a road traffic collision involving a Mini Cooper and a VW Polo. No persons were trapped or injured. Crews assisted with scene safety only.


Rubbish fire – A19, Bishopthorpe

Time of call: 1314 hours

A crew from York has dealt with a large rubbish fire approximately 5m by 5m containing as tyre, mattress, old concrete and green waste. The cause was deliberate and the crew used 1 hose reel.


Grass fire – A19, Barlby

Time of call: 1324 hours

A crew from Selby has been called to a small grass fire. The cause was deliberate. The fire was out on arrival.


Stubble field fire – Allerton Wath Road, Borrowby, Thirsk

Time of call: 1617 hours

A crew from Thirsk are dealing with a hedge and stubble field fire approximately 50m by 50m. They are currently using 2 hose reel jets and beaters.
