Incident Summary – Day Shift Wednesday 27th June

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

False alarm – off Northstead Manor Drive, Scarborough

Time of call: 0735 hours

A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown fault in the detection system.

Shed fire – Broughton Road, Malton

Time of call: 0833 hours

Crews from Malton, Pickering and York have dealt with a large fire on an allotment site involving 2 large sheds measuring approx. 10m by 10m. Both sheds and all contents were destroyed. Fire spread to an adjacent trailer tent which was totally destroyed. Fire then spread to a 3rd shed and caused slight fire damage to external panels. Crews used 2 hosereels, pitchforks and hand tools. The cause is believed to be sun light refracted inside the shed.

Animal rescue – Off Jerry Carr Bank, Ampleforth

Time of call: 0901 hours

The animal rescue team from Tadcaster has been called to rescue a heifer stuck in a beck. The crew used lines and strops to rescue the heifer which was returned to her farmer uninjured.

Lift rescue – Victoria Avenue, Harrogate

Time of call: 0912 hours

A crew from Harrogate has rescued a female from a stalled lift car in a commercial property using a set of lift keys.  The female was uninjured.

Grass fire – off the A165, Cayton

Time of call: 1047 hours

A crew from Scarborough has dealt with undergrowth on fire measuring approx. 10msq. Crews used 2 hosereels to extinguish. The cause is unknown.

False alarm – off Haxby Road, York

Time of call: 1117 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to dust being made by workmen.

Grass fire – Range Road, Catterick Garrison

Time of call: 1130 hours

Crews from Richmond and Colburn have dealt with and area of scrubland on fire measuring  approx. 2m by 2m. This fire was extinguished prior to our arrival but crew used a backpack sprayer and buckets of water to damp the area down. The cause is believed to be accidental.

False alarm – Blossomgate, Ripon

Time of call: 1135 hours

A crew from Ripon has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cigarette smoke.

False alarm - Devonshire Drive, Scarborough

Time of call: 1223 hours

A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to dust from workmen.

False alarm – Esplanade, Scarborough

Time of call: 1320 hours

A crew from Scarborough has been called to reports of electricity cables on fire at a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to arcing and sparks from a cable. No fire. Advice given.

Grass fire – off the B6275, Manfield

Time of call: 1617 hours

Crews from Richmond, Colburn and Darlington have dealt with an area approx. 100m by 50m of grass and hedging on fire. 1 hosereel and beaters used. Cause to follow. ***INCIDENT IN PROGRESS***

False alarm – Westborough, Scarborough

Time of call: 1654 hours

A crew from Scarborough has been called to reports of smoke coming from the roof of a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to contractors working on the roof.
