False alarm – M62, westbound between J34 and J33

Time: 0957 hours

Fire crews from Selby and Goole have been called to reports of a van on fire. A full search of the M62 was carried out in this area but no incident was found.


False alarm – M62, westbound near J34

Time: 1104 hours

Fire crews from Selby and Snaith have been called to reports of a hedge on fire. No fire located. Possibly steam from nearby cooling tower mistaken for smoke.


Road traffic collision – B6265 near Clip’d Thirn Hill

Time: 1320 hours

2 crews from Ripon have been called to a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a Vauxhall Astra. Male driver, aged 90, was out of the vehicle on arrival of fire crews. Female passenger, aged 91, was trapped in the vehicle due to it’s position. She was released by fire crews. Both occupants have been taken to hospital with minor injuries. Fire crews used hydraulic cutting gear.


Effect entry – Kirkham Road, Whitby

Time of call: 1531 hours

A crew from Whitby has gained entry to a flat after a 3 year old boy accidentally locked his mum out. Crews used small tools and mother and child were reunited unharmed.
