False alarm – Milby, Boroughbridge

Time of call: 0902 hours

A crew from Boroughbridge has investigated a fire in the open near the roundabout in Milby. This was a false alarm due to controlled burning under supervision

Shed fire – Mill Close, Settle

Time of call: 1011 hours

Crews from Settle and Bentham have been called to a wooden lean-to on fire attached to a domestic property. Fire damage was caused to the lean-to and its contents (bicycles and general garden items). The cause is unknown and the crew used 1 hosereel jet.

Garage fire – Whitby Road, Staithes

Time of call: 1143 hours

Crews from Lythe and Whitby have attended a fire in a detached domestic garage. This resulted in fire damage to the roof of the building, the windows and the up and over door. Crews have used 2 hosereels and 3 breathing apparatus. The cause is believed to be a faulty battery charger.

Fault in underground cables – Millgate, Selby

Time of call: 1218 hours

A crew from Selby has been called to reports of smoke coming from a manhole cover in the street. This was a small fire involving cables. Damage was limited to a small area of wiring. Fire crew carried out an inspection and left the incident with an engineer.

False alarm – Fifth Avenue, York

Time of call: 1224 hours

A crew from York has responded to the activation of a smoke alarm at a residential property. This is believed to be a false alarm due to steam from a portable food trolley. Occupiers had reset the alarm prior to the arrival of the Fire Service.

Effect entry – Blueberry Way, Scarborough

Time of call: 1306 hours

A crew from Scarborough has been called to a residential flat after a 1 year old child was locked in the property. The mother had left the flat to open the main door when her flat door closed behind her. Crews used a door breaker to gain access. Mother an child were reunited and uninjured.

False alarm – Selby Road, Whitley Bridge

Time of call: 1440 hours

A crew from Selby has responded to the activation of a smoke alarm at a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to accidental activation of a break glass point.
