Round up of incidents –   Night Shift Monday 16th May

Lead Lane, Ripon

Fire crews from Ripon and an officer attended reports of a fire in a kitchen in a domestic premises on Lead Lane. When crews arrived, they discovered a fire in a ground floor flat. Crews used a hose reel and breathing apparatus to deal with the fire. There was fire damage to the cooker and smoke damage to the whole property. Two dogs were rescued from the property by fire crews. The cause of the fire is believed to be combustible items left near cooker. Advice given to occupants.

Wheldrake Lane, Skipwith Village,  Nr York

Fire crews from York and Acomb and an officer attended a single vehicle road traffic collision. Upon crew’s arrival, they assisted with scene safety and worked with paramedics to get 2 male casualties to ambulance care. No equipment used by crew, just manpower.

 Lonsdale Road, Scarborough

Fire crews from Scarborough attended reports of a kitchen fire in a domestic premises. When crews arrived, they extinguished the fire with 1 hose reel jet and wearing breathing apparatus.  Fire damage was confined to the cooker but the whole of the kitchen sustained smoke damage. 

Bismarck Street. York

Fire crews from Huntington attended reports of smoke in a domestic dwelling. When crews arrived they were able to confirm the alarm had been raised due to fumes from tobacco smoke. The occupant was given advice.

Queenswood Grove, York

Fire crews attended reports of a fire in the open. When crews arrived at Queenswood Grove they discovered a small fire in the garden. The fire was extinguished by using a garden hose, spades and thermal imaging camera. The fire is thought to have been started by a dropped light being discarded carelessly.

Station Road, Stokesley

Fire crews from Cleveland Fire Brigade assisted North Yorks crew by attending reports of a fire near a commercial property down Station Road. When crews arrived they were able to confirm the fire to be controlled burning under supervision. Advice was given to the responsible person with the burning. No further action required.

Danby Low Moor, Danby.

Fire crews from Danby were mobilised to reports of a fire in the open on the moors. When crews arrived they were able to confirm there was a moor fire, approx. 65 sq. metres in size. Crews used 2 hose reels and beaters to extinguish the fire. The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.

Huntington Road, York

Fire crews from Huntington attended a care premises following reports of a fire alarm sounding. When crews arrived they investigated the premises. Crews were able to establish that the alarm was sounding due to steam from a shower. No further action required, advice given

Manham Hill, Eastfield, Scarborough

Fire crews from Scarborough attended reports of a smoke alarm sounding at a domestic property. When crews arrived they were able to confirm there to be no fire at the address. The alarm had been activated by cooking fumes. Crews checked the property and ensured everything was safe for the occupant. Advice given.

Fossway, York

Fire crews from Acomb and York attended reports of a shed fire. When they arrived, the shed was well alight. Crews used 2 hose reels to extinguish the fire. The fire had caused some fire damage to external fittings on the nearby flats. Fire crews ensured the fire was fully extinguished and will revisit the incident later today. The fire is believed to have been caused by careless use of a lighter.

Albion Terrace, Whitby

Fire crews from Whitby attended reports of an automatic fire alarm system sounding in a block of flats. When crews arrived they were able to confirm there was no fire. Further investigation revealed there to be a fault on the alarm system. Engineers will attend the premises. No further action by fire crew.
