Incident Summary – Night Shift Saturday 30th December

Chimney fire – Main Street, Flixton

Time of call: 1725 hours

2 crews and an aerial ladder from Scarborough have dealt with a chimney fire in a residential property. The cause was debris and a fallen birds nest in the chimney. Crews used a thermal imaging camera, triple extension ladder, chimney kit and small tools.

Lift rescue – Church Square, Harrogate

Time of call: 1817 hours

A crew from Harrogate has rescued 1 male from a stalled lift in a residential property. They used hand tools and the male was uninjured.

Roof fire – Leyburn Road, Middleham  

Time of call: 1858 hours

Crews from Leyburn and Reeth have dealt with a fire in the roof void of a single storey residential property. Fire damage to roof timbers and insulation. Smoke damage to roof void. Cause believed to be radiated heat from uninsulated wood burner flue. Thermal imaging camera, roof ladder, harnesses, 1 hose reel jet and hand tools used.

Chimney fire – Harrogate Road, Ferrensby

Time of call: 1914 hours

A crew from Knaresborough have dealt with a chimney fire in a residential property which caused smoke to percolate into a neighbours property via a faulty flue. The cause was an accumulation of soot. Crew carried out an inspection and gave advice.

Chimney fire – Almsford Road, Harrogate          

Time of call: 2005 hours

2 crews from Harrogate have dealt with a chimney fire in a residential property.  The cause was lack of maintenance and sweeping. The fire was out on arrival but crew used a thermal imaging camera for inspection. Advice given.

False alarm – Beckfield Lane, York

Time of call: 0447 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown fault as a keyholder was not present.

False alarm – Alan Farnaby Way, Sheriff Hutton

Time of call: 0600 hours

A crew from Huntington has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

False alarm – Haxby Road, York

Time of call: 0650 hours

A crew from Huntington has responded to a smoke alarm in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault in the detector head.
