Kitchen fire – Hansom Place, York

Time of call: 1817 hours

A crew from York has been called to a fire in the kitchen of a ground floor flat. A pair of scissors had been placed on a hot hob. Fire damage limited to scissors only. Smoke detectors fitted, activated and raised the alarm to the residents who removed the scissors from the heat source. Fire crew carried out an inspection only.

Hay bales on fire – Woodale

Time of call: 2122 hours

Crews from Leyburn and Grassington have been called to reports of a fire in the open at Woodale. Although this was a small rubbish fire, it was too close to a stack of hay bales. Crews have used 1 hosereel, lighting and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire. Advice was given to the owner.

False alarm – Broadway, Scarborough

Time of call: 2329 hours

A crew from Scarborough has been called to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a faulty smoke detector

False alarm – Princess Close, Scarborough

Time of call: 2346 hours

A crew from Scarborough has been called to an alarm activation in a residential property. This was a carbon monoxide alarm. The crew ventilated the property and advised the occupier to contact National Grid.

Outbuilding fire – Rake Lane, Lealholm Side

Time of call: 0107 hours

Crews from Danby and Lythe have been called to an outbuilding on fire attached to a 2 storey residential property. The outbuilding measured approximately 6m by 4m and was totally destroyed by fire. There was also smoke damage to a first floor bedroom in the attached house. The cause is believed to be careless disposal of hot ashes and our crews have used 1 hosereel, 2 breathing apparatus, short extension ladder, lighting, thermal imaging camera and various hand tools.

False alarm – Crosshills, Marfield, Masham

Time of call: 0206 hours

A crew from Masham has been called to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a faulty in the detection system.

Caravan fire – Filey

Time of call: 0211 hours

Crews from Filey and Scarborough have tackled a fire on a caravan site. The fire involved a storage unit on the side of a caravan and damage was limited to the exterior of the caravan only. The cause is believed to be deliberate and crews used 1 hosereel, small tools and a thermal imaging camera.

False alarm – Wigginton Road, York

Time of call: 0225 hours

A crew from York has been called to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to dust in the detector.

False alarm – Bishopdyke Road, Cawood

Time of call: 0630 hours

A crew from Selby has been called to a smoke alarm activation in an industrial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault in the system.
