Incident Summary Night Shift Friday 10th August 2018

10th August 2018

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

We also attended a number of fire alarm activations during the shift which turned out to be a false alarms.

Please see below a round up of incidents from Friday 10th August Night Shift

Aislaby, Whitby: time of call – 17.50

Appliances from Lythe and Whitby attended a combine harvester on fire that spread to a field. Crews used 4 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reek jet, small tools and a thermal imaging camera.

Rawdon Avenue, York: time of call – 17.59

York crew were sent to a young girl who had climbed a tree and was unable to get down. Crews used a triple extension ladder to rescue the girl and provided advice.

Harrogate Retail Park, Old Beck Road: time of call – 18.25

A crew from Harrogate extinguished a fire in the wooded area near to the above location. Crews used 1 hose reel jet at this incident. The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.

Westwood Close, Scarborough: time of call – 18.35

An appliance from Scarborough station assisted with children who were locked in a bedroom due to a faulty/broken door. Crews used a hoolitool and manpower to open the door.

Gargrave Road, Skipton: time of call – 20.54

2 appliances from Skipton attended a fire in a bin store that was adjacent to a educational building. Crews used 1 main jet to extinguish the fire. The cause of this fire is believed to be deliberate.

Eastfield, Scarborough: time of call – 22.20

Scarborough were mobilised to reports of a fire to building materials on a new housing development, this turned out to be controlled burning under supervision and crews gave advice. No further action taken by the fire brigade.

Western Road, Skipton: Time of call – 02:46

An appliance from Skipton attended  this incident which was a burst water main which had caused flooding to a street, crews helped prevent water from entering any properties and stood by until the water authority attended and isolated the leak.

Oxford Street, Harrogate: Time of call – 05:00

2 appliances from Harrogate attended this incident and extinguished a fire in a domestic shed using a hose reel jet.
