Incident Summary – Night Shift Friday 13th July

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

 

Road traffic collision – A65, Ingleton

Time of call: 1618 hours

Crews from Bentham and Settle have attended a road traffic collision involving a Mercedes LGV and a Peugeot 107. 3 males from LGV taken to hospital with minor injuries.  1 female from car taken to hospital with serious injuries. Crews used hydraulic cutting equipment. Police & Ambulance also attended.

 

False alarm – Ripon Road, Killinghall

Time of call: 1634 hours

A crew from Summerbridge has investigated reports of a fire in the open. This was a false alarm due to controlled burning under supervision.

 

False alarm – Husthwaite

Time of call: 1813 hours

Easingwold crew have responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to insects in the detector head.

 

Bin fire – Bullamoor Road, Northallerton

Time of call: 1854 hours

A crew from Northallerton have dealt with a bin on fire in the open. Damage was limited to the contents of the bin. Crew used a hosereel jet. The cause is deliberate.

 

Rescue – Keighley Road, Skipton

Time of call: 1932 hours

A crew from Skipton have assisted in moving a male downstairs in a commercial property, after the lift from the first floor failed. Manpower used.

 

Hedge fire – Barstow Avenue, York

Time of call: 1943 hours

Crews from York and Acomb have dealt with approx. 10m by 10m area of hedge, fence and grass on fire in the garden of a domestic property. Crews used 2 hosereel jets to extinguish. The cause is believed to be a carelessly disposed cigarette.

 

Rubbish fire – A63, Lumby

Time of call: 2011 hours

2 crews from Selby have dealt with a large rubbish fire in the open involving approx. 50 waste tyres and 39 waste gas cylinders. Crews used 1 hosereel, breathing apparatus and ceiling hooks. The cause is believed to be deliberate.

 

False alarm – Bridge Street, Bedale

Time of call: 2049 hours

A crew from Bedale has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown fault on the detection system.

 

False alarm – Beacon Way, Sneaton

Time of call: 2110 hours

A crew from Whitby have been called to reports of a chimney fire in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to steam from a back boiler.

 

Rubbish fire – Cross Lane, Newby

Time of call: 2116 hours

A crew from Scarborough has dealt with household rubbish on fire in a discarded shopping trolley. Crew used a knapsack sprayer. Cause is believed to be deliberate.

 

Car fire – A6108, Bellerby

Time of call: 2139 hours

A crew from Leyburn has dealt with a car on fire. This resulted in fire, heat and smoke damage the engine compartment and slight damage to the interior of the vehicle. The cause is believed to be an electrical fault. Crew used 2 breathing apparatus and 2 hosereel jets.

 

Bonfire – Throxenby Mere, Scarborough

Time of call: 2246 hours

A crew from Scarborough has been called to a bonfire in a dangerous position. The campfire was started by a group of youths who were believed to be intoxicated. Crew extinguished the fire using buckets of water.

 

False alarm – off Forest Drive, Colburn

Time of call: 2302 hours

A crew from Colburn has investigated reports of a tumble dryer on fire in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to acrid fumes from the dryer motor. No fire. Crew gave advice and removed the dryer from the property.

 

Rubbish fire – Leeming Lane North, Catterick Village

Time of call: 2309 hours

3 fire engines from Colburn, Richmond and Leyburn have tackled a large rubbish fire in the open involving cuttings, pallets, doors and other general waste. Crews used 1 hosereel and 2 main jets. The cause is believed to be deliberate.

 

Grass fire – Haxby Moor Road, Strensall

Time of call: 2319 hours

A crew from Huntington has dealt with approx. 20 sqm of grassland on fire. Crew used 1 hosereel jets and beaters. The cause is deliberate.

 

False alarm – Shipton Road, Clifton

Time of call: 0337 hours

A crew from Acomb had responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to insects in the detector.

 

False alarm – off Scalby Road, Newby

Time of call: 0458 hours

A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.
