Incident Summary – Night Shift Friday 23rd December

 

Road traffic collision – Northway, Scarborough 

Time of call: 1713 hours

A crew from Scarborough has dealt with a Land Rover leaking fuel after it collided with a set of traffic lights. No persons were trapped or injured in the incident. Highways attended to sand the road and an electrician made safe the damaged cables. Our crew provided lighting.

 

Chimney fire – Hawthorn Lane, Bedale

Time of call: 1812 hours

A crew from Northallerton has dealt with a chimney fire in a residential property. The cause is believed to be an accumulation of soot and the crew used a thermal imaging camera and chimney rods.

 

Chimney fire – Pannal Road, Follifoot

Time of call: 1849 hours

A crew from Harrogate has dealt with a chimney fire in a commercial property. The cause is believed to be an accumulation of soot and the crew used chimney kit, buckets and a thermal imaging camera.

 

Assist ambulance – Welham Road, Norton

Time of call: 1912 hours

A crew from Malton has been called to assist with an elderly male who had fallen out of his wheelchair. The crew administered first aid and oxygen until the arrival of the ambulance.

 

False alarm – Innovation Way, Heslington

Time of call: 2040 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

 

Kitchen fire – Lady Ediths Crescent, Scarborough

Time of call: 2110 hours

2 crews from Scarborough have been called to a frying pan fire in the kitchen of a private detached residential property. Fire damage was limited to oil in pan and slight smoke damage to kitchen.  1 female suffered burns to face and hands. Crew administered first aid until arrival of ambulance. Smoke detectors were fitted in the property and activated. The cause is believed to have been a pan left unattended. The fire was out on arrival - crews carried out an inspection only and administered first aid.

 

False alarm – Davygate, York 

Time of call: 2129 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

 

False alarm – Valley Bridge Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 2202 hours

A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to steam from a kettle.

 

Road traffic collision – Corban Lane, Shipton by Beningbrough

Time of call: 2226 hours

Crews from Acomb and Huntington have been called to a single vehicle road traffic collision. No persons were trapped or injured. Police and ambulance also attended. Our services were not required.

 

Tree fire – Brunt Acres Road, Hawes

Time of call: 2315 hours

A crew from Hawes has dealt with a small fire involving a tree. The cause is believed to be a dropped light and the crew used 1 hose reel to extinguish.

 

Kitchen fire – Dean Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 0046 hours

2 crews and an aerial ladder from Scarborough and a crew from Filey have been called to a grill pan fire in a 2nd floor flat. Damage was limited to the contents of the grill pan and there was smoke logging through the flat. 1 male was lead to safety by fire crew and was uninjured. Smoke detectors were fitted, they activated and raised the alarm. The cause is believed to be the grill being left unattended.

 

Fire – Roseville Avenue, Harrogate

Time of call: 0156 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This alarm was activated by smoke from a fuse on fire on the mains electricity incoming supply board. Damage was limited to the fuse only. Our crew carried out an inspection and left the incident with an electrician.

 

Rubbish fire – rear of Gowthorpe, Selby

Time of call: 0248 hours

A crew from Selby has dealt with a small rubbish fire in the open. The cause is believed to be deliberate and they used 1 hose reel to extinguish.

 

Kitchen fire – Stapleton Close, Seamer

Time of call: 0535 hours

2 crews from Scarborough have attended a fire on the hob in a kitchen of a 2 storey residential property. Fire damage was limited to an electric kettle only. 1 female suffered slight smoke inhalation and received a precautionary check up on scene from paramedics. The fire was extinguished by a neighbour with a dry powder extinguisher prior to our arrival. The cause is believed to be accidental.

 

False alarm - East Common Lane, Barlby

Time of call: 0623 hours

A crew from Selby has responded to a smoke alarm activation at a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to an accidental activation of a beam sensor.

 

Road traffic collision – Brough Park Lane, Brough with St Giles

Time of call: 0647 hours

Crews from Colburn and Richmond have been called to assist Police search the scene of a road traffic collision during which damage has been caused to a small bridge. No vehicle was located at the scene. Lighting and a thermal imaging camera have been used.
