Incident Summary – Night Shift Friday 23rd February

 

Sink hole – Dallamires Lane, Ripon

Time of call: 1545 hours

2 crews from Ripon have been called to a sink hole opening approximately 5m by 5m and of an unknown depth. Fire crews cordoned off the area until arrival of local authority Emergency Planning team and Police. Incident left with Harrogate Borough Council.

 

False alarm – Mill Hill Drive, Brompton

Time of call: 1737 hours

A crew from Northallerton has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to a faulty smoke detector.

 

Car fire – A1 southbound between Leeming Bar & Baldersby

Time of call: 1956 hours

Crews from Bedale, Northallerton and Ripon have been called to reports of a car fire on the A1 southbound. This involved a fire in the engine compartment of a Ford Fusion and resulted in slight fire damage to a quantity of oil only. The cause is believed to be an oil leak and crews used 1 hose reel and a thermal imaging camera.

 

Chimney fire – Brawby Lane, Brawby

Time of call: 2052 hours

A crew from Kirkbymoorside has dealt with a chimney fire in a domestic property. The cause is believed to be an accumulation of soot and crew used 1 hose reel, chimney rods, hose reel adaptor and a thermal imaging camera.

 

Building fire – Golden Grove, Whitby

Time of call: 0042 hours

Crews from Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay and Goathland have dealt with a fire in a wooden lean-to shed approx. 2m by 5m containing a bio fuel boiler, pellets and logs. This resulted in severe fire damage to the shed and contents and slight heat damage to an adjacent vehicle. Crews used a water lance, ceiling hooks, spades, buckets, lighting, hand tools and a thermal imaging camera. The cause is believed to be a fault on the boiler which caused heat to radiate onto stored pellets and logs. The incident remains open for a revisit by Whitby crew later today.

 

False alarm – Gladstone Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 0624 hours

2 crew from Scarborough have responded to a smoke alarm in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to an earth fault on the detection system.
