Incident Summary – Night Shift Friday 29th June

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

 

Shed fire – off Beech Avenue, York       

Time of call: 1900 hours

A crew from Acomb has dealt with a shed fire in the garden of a domestic property. Severe fire, heat and smoke damage caused to shed and contents. Crew used 1 hosereel to extinguish. Cause is unknown.

 

Rubbish fire – Leeside, York      

Time of call: 1912 hours

A crew from York has dealt with a rubbish fire in the garden of a domestic property. Crew used 1 hose reel to extinguish. The cause is believed to be accidental.

 

Bin fire – The Ropery, Pickering                               

Time of call: 1924 hours

A crew rom Pickering has dealt with a bin fire. Damage was limited to the contents of the bin and the crew used 1 hosereel to extinguish. The cause is believed to be a dropped light.

 

Building fire, off Field Lane, Heslington                              

Time of call: 1931 hours

Crews from Acomb and Huntington have dealt with a fire in a communal bin store.  Approx. 15m by 5m. Fire damage was caused to a number of plastic bins and a section of surrounding fence. Heat damage was caused to a number of metal bins. Crews used 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hosereel jet and a thermal imaging camera.

 

Grass fire – off Doublegates Avenue, Ripon      

Time of call: 1942 hours

A crew from Ripon has dealt with a small bonfire in an area of cleared woodland. The crew used 2 knapsack sprayers and a shovel to extinguish. The cause is believed to be deliberate.

 

Lift rescue – Argyle Road, Whitby           

Time of call: 1943 hours

A crew from Whitby has rescued 2 females from the car of a stalled lift. Both females were uninjured. The crew used hand tools.

 

Grass fire – Primrose Dene, Byram

Time of call: 1955 hours

Crews from Selby and West Yorkshire Fire Service have been called to a grass fire measuring approx. 100 sqm. The incident was dealt with by a West Yorkshire crew prior to our arrival.

 

Grass fire – off Pyramid Court, York

Time of call: 2026 hours

A crew from Acomb has dealt with a small fire involving bushes. The fire was extinguished by a worker from a nearby business with a fire extinguisher prior to our arrival. The cause is believed to be deliberate.

 

Bin fire – Rowntree Park, York

Time of call: 2051 hours

A crew from York has dealt with a bin fire in the open. Crews used buckets of water to extinguish. The cause is believed to be deliberate.

 

Building fire – Skipton Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 2111 hours

Crews from Harrogate and Knaresborough have been called to a rubbish fire measuring approx. 1.5sqm inside a derelict barn. Crews used 1 hosereel to extinguish. The cause is believed to be deliberate.

 

Rescue – off Stainsacre Lane, Whitby

Time of call: 2113 hours

Crews from Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay have been called to assist Ambulance crew with a young male who had fallen from a rope swing into a ravine. Working with the local Mountain Rescue team and paramedics, crews assisted to rescue the male and carry him to the nearest road. He has been taken to hospital with multiple injuries. Crews used a short extensions ladder, lines, stretcher, lighting and manpower.

 

Building fire – Crag Lane, Harrogate

Time of call: 2205 hours

Crews from Harrogate and Knaresborough have dealt with a fire involving a wooden building approx. 6m by 5m.

The whole structure was destroyed by the fire. Crews used 1 hosereel jet to extinguish. The cause is believed to be deliberate.

 

False alarm – Manham Hill, Eastfield

Time of call: 2209 hours

A crew from Sherburn has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to a damaged smoke detector. Advice given.

 

False alarm – High Street, Harrogate

Time of call: 2223 hours

Crews from Ripon and Boroughbridge have responded to a report of an unsafe gas cylinder in a domestic property. A full search of the property was carried out but no cylinder located. A female occupier was left in the hands of Ambulance personnel.

 

Shed fire – Naburn Lane, Naburn

Time of call: 2336 hours

Crews from York and Acomb have dealt with a shed on fire measuring approx. 2m by 1.5m. 100% fire, heat and smoke damage caused to the shed and contents. Crews used 1 hosereel jet to extinguished. The cause is believed to be deliberate.

 

False alarm – off Clifford Street, York

Time of call: 2354 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

 

Small fire – Wetherby Road, Boroughbridge

Time of call: 0117 hours

A crew from Boroughbridge have dealt with a bonfire left unattended. Crew used a knapsack sprayer to extinguish. The cause is believed to be deliberate and the incident was left with the Police.

 

False alarm – Highfield Road, Malton

Time of call: 0352 hours

A crew from Malton has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to a low battery. Advice given.
