Incident Summary – Night Shift Friday 30th September

 

False alarm – Station Road, York

Time of call: 1823 hours

A crew from Acomb has been called to reports of a Vauxhall Zafira car on fire. This was a false alarm due to steam from a split coolant pipe.

 

Water leak – Fawcett Street, York

Time of call: 1833 hours

A crew from Acomb has been called to water leaking from a water cylinder inside a residential property. The water was leaking through the floor into the room below and affecting the electrics. The crew isolated the water and electricity to the property and advised the occupier to contact a plumber and electrician.

 

Gas leak – Church Street, Whitby

Time of call: 1831 hours

Crews from Whitby and Lythe have been called to CO2 leaking from a cylinder in a cellar. 1 male had been overcome by the gas and was rescued from the cellar by 2 other males. All 3 were in the care of ambulance on the arrival of the Fire Service. Our crews used 2 breathing apparatus to remove the cylinders to the open and a gas engineers gas detector to confirm atmosphere as oxygen deficient. Crews activated cellar extraction system to remove residue of gas.

 

False alarm – Lancaster Park Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 1920 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a deodorant spray.

 

False alarm – Hempland Lane, York

Time of call: 1955 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to steam from a shower.

 

False alarm – Station Road, Thirsk

Time of call: 2015 hours

A crew from Thirsk has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a suspected fault in the detection system.

 

Rubbish fire – North Bridge area, Ripon

Time of call: 2031 hours

A crew from Ripon has dealt with a large bonfire approximately 20m by 8m in a field. The cause is deliberate and the crew used a hosereel jet, a 45mm hose, lighting and road cones.

 

False alarm – Langburns Bank, Castleton

Time of call: 2041 hours

A crew from Danby has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

 

False alarm – Micklegate, York

Time of call: 2107 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to steam from a shower.

 

Assist Police – The Green, Richmond

Time of call: 2144 hours

A crew from Richmond has assisted the Police to retrieve items of evidence from approximately 10m up a tree. Crew used a 13.5m ladder and working at height harness.

 

False alarm – Ousegate, Selby

Time of call: 2155 hours

A crew from Selby has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

 

Making safe – Burlington Avenue, York

Time of call: 2159 hours

A crew from York has been called to reports of a domestic heating boiler making strange noises. This was a water hammer on the plumbing system due to a problem with the toilet syphon. Crews isolated the gas boiler and water heater at the request of the occupier and gave advice.

 

Rubbish fire – Hurricane Way, York

Time of call: 2355 hours

A crew from Huntington has dealt with a small rubbish fire in a car park. The cause was deliberate and the crew used 1 hose reel.

 

False alarm – Sim Balk Lane, York

Time of call: 2358 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a faulty detector.

 

False alarm – Haxby Road, York

Time of call: 0031 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown fault in the system.

 

Rubbish fire – off Long Street, Topcliffe

Time of call: 0127 hours

A crew from Thirsk has dealt with a large rubbish fire in a field. The fire was allowed to burn out. Crew used 1 hose reel to dampen down the surrounding area as a precaution. The cause was controlled burning left unattended.

 

Bin fire - Trafalgar Terrace, Scarborough

Time of call: 0214 hours

A crew from Scarborough has dealt with a bin fire. The bin was totally destroyed. The cause was deliberate and they used 1 hosereel.

 

Car fire – Dundas Gardens, Whitby

Time of call: 0253 hours

A crew from Whitby has dealt with a car fire involving a Honda Prelude which suffered 60% fire damage. The cause was deliberate and they used 1 hosereel, 2 breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera.

 

False alarm – Green Lane, Acomb

Time of call: 0542 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the system.

 

False alarm – Foss Islands Road, York

Time of call: 0614 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the system.
