Incident Summary – Night Shift Friday 7th April

 

 Animal rescue – Coulton Lane, Coulton

Time of call: 1658 hours

Crews from Helmsley and Malton have rescued a horse after it became stuck on a ledge near a beck. A vet attended and sedated the animal before crews used animal rescue equipment to move the horse to a safe location.

 

False alarm – Trinity Gardens, Northallerton

Time of call: 1703 hours

A crew from Northallerton has investigated reports of a large bonfire in the garden of a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to controlled burning under supervision.

 

Commercial property fire – Northside Industrial Estate, Whitley

Time of call: 1746 hours

Crews from Selby, Pontefract and Askern have dealt with a small fire in an industrial hopper. This resulted in slight fire damage to a small quantity of flour. The fire was extinguished by the on site suppression system. Fire crews used 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel and a thermal imaging camera. The cause was accidental. 

 

False alarm – Borooughbridge Road, Northallerton

Time of call: 1829 hours

A crew from Northallerton has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

 

Tree fire – Bachelor Hill Gardens, York

Time of call: 1958 hours

A crew from Acomb has been called to a tree on fire. Slight damage was caused to the bark. The cause was deliberate and the fire was out on our arrival.

 

Rubbish fire – off Stammergate, Thirsk

Time of call: 2046 hours

A crew from Thirsk has been called to a small rubbish fire on the football field. Fire was out on arrival. Cause deliberate.

 

False alarm – A59, Skipton

Time of call: 2120 hours

2 crews from Skipton have been called to reports of a farm building on fire. This was a false alarm due to controlled burning under supervision. Advice was given to the occupier.

 

Flat fire & rescue - Trafalgar Square, Scarborough

Time of call: 2143 hours

Crews from Scarborough, Filey and Sherburn have been called to a third floor flat on fire. The fire started in the kitchen and has caused fire, heat and smoke damage to the oven, kitchen and remainder of the flat. 1 male was rescued from the flat by fire fighters wearing breathing apparatus and has been treated by paramedics on scene for smoke inhalation. A second male was rescued from a 4th floor flat but was uninjured. The cause is believed to be an oven being left unattended and crews have used 4 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel, a positive pressure ventilation fan and lighting.

 

False alarm – Fryton Lane, Slingsby

Time of call: 2152 hours

A crew from Malton has investigated reports of an electricity pole on fire. This is believed to be a false alarm as no fire could be located.

 

False alarm – Oak Tree Lane, Haxby

Time of call: 2237 hours

A crew from Huntington has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to it being the intruder alarm sounding.

 

False alarm – Main Street, Upper Poppleton

Time of call: 0040 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown fault.

 

Car fire – Broughton Grove, Skipton

Time of call: 0102 hours

A crew from Skipton has been called to a car fire which has resulted in severe fire, heat and smoke damage to the vehicle. The crew have used 2 breathing apparatus and 2 hose reels to extinguish. This incident remains open for a further investigation on Saturday morning.

 

False alarm – Main Street, Upper Poppleton

Time of call: 0314 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown fault.

 

Water leak – Tutin Road, Leeming Bar

Time of call: 0509 hours

A crew from Bedale has been called to water leaking inside a commercial property and affecting the electrics. Crew gained entry and isolated water supply. Incident left with keyholder.
