Incident Summary – Night Shift Monday 20th February

 

Rubbish fire – Brotherton

Time of call: 1526 hours

A crew from Selby has dealt with a rubbish fire in woodland involving approximately 10 old tyres. The cause is believed to be deliberate and the crew used 1 hose reel to extinguish.

 

Kitchen fire – Main Street, Bishopthorpe

Time of call: 1647 hours

Crews from York and Acomb have dealt with a fire in the kitchen of a commercial property. Although the fire was out on our arrival, crews moved the cooking to the open air and used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke from the property. The cause is believed to be cooking left unattended.

 

False alarm – Prospect Place, Harrogate

Time of call: 1734 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to steam from a shower.

 

False alarm – Chapel Street, Thirsk

Time of call: 1735 hours

A crew from Thirsk has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

 

False alarm – Chapel Street, Thirsk

Time of call: 1759 hours

A crew from Thirsk has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes. A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear smoke from the property.

 

False alarm – Middleham Avenue, York

Time of call: 1923 hours

Crews from York and Huntington have responded to reports of a fire in the rear garden of a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to controlled burning in a furnace.

 

False alarm – Coronation Avenue, Hinderwell

Time of call: 1926 hours

Crews from Lythe and Whitby have responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

 

False alarm – Dodsworth Avenue, York

Time of call: 1958 hours

A crew from York has responded to reports of shrubbery on fire on a cycle path. This was a false alarm due to reflected light.

 

Cooker fire – Oak Tree Drive, Bedale

Time of call: 2357 hours

Crews from Masham and Northallerton have responded to reports of smoke at a residential property. This was a small fire involving food left the oven at a low temperature. The fire was out on arrival but Fire crews used 2 breathing apparatus to ventilate the property.  2 elderly occupants received a precautionary check up from paramedics on scene but did not require hospital treatment. Fortunately smoke detectors were fitted in the property and alerted a neighbour.
