Incident Summary – Night Shift Monday 26th November

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

False alarm – Brompton Road, Northallerton

Time of call: 1737 hours

A crew from Northallerton has investigated reports of smoke from a disused building. This was a false alarm due to steam from a boiler.

Chimney fire – Middleham

Time of call: 1828 hours

A crew from Leyburn has dealt with a chimney fire in a domestic property. Crew used a hosereel and chimney kit to extinguish fire and a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots. The cause is believed to an accumulation of soot.

False alarm – Hutton Rudby

Time of call: 1941 hours

A crew from Stokesley has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to insects in the detector head.

False alarm – Beulah terrace, Scarborough

Time of call: 2021 hours

A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a resident vaping.

Car fire – A1 northbound near Baldersby

Time of call: 2023 hours

Crews from Bedale, Boroughbridge, and Thirsk have been called to a vehicle fire involving a Land Rover. Fire damage was caused to the heater and carpet area. The fire was out on our arrival but crew used 1 hosereel to cool the area down. The cause is believed to be an overheated exhaust.

False alarm – Percy’s Lane, York

Time of call: 2044 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential building. This was a false alarm due to steam from a shower.

Car fire – Hunmanby

Time of call: 2056 hours

A crew from Filey has dealt with a VW Golf on fire. Vehicle was totally destroyed by fire. Crew used 1 hose reel and 2 breathing apparatus. The cause is believed to be deliberate.

House fire – Great Ayton

Time of call: 2102 hours

Crews from Stokesley and Coulby Newham have dealt with a tumble dryer on fire in a outhouse. 100% fire damage was caused to the tumble dryer and there was smoke damage to the outhouse. Crews used 1 hose reel. The cause is believed to be an electrical fault.

False alarm – Danby

Time of call: 2107 hours

A crew from Danby has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

Water leak – Cheltenham Crescent, Harrogate

Time of call: 2210 hours

A crew from Harrogate has been called to water leaking from the external overflow pipe of a commercial property. Crew diverted water away from footpath only as they were unable to gain access to building.

False alarm – Crescent Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 2248 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a faulty extraction system.

False alarm – off Crab lane, Harrogate

Time of call: 0033 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to a faulty detector.

A crew from Thirsk has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the system.

False alarm – Harwood Road, Upper Poppleton

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown fault on the system.

False alarm – The Crescent, Harrogate

Time of call: 0345 hours

2 crews from Harrogate and a crew from Knaresborough have been called to reports of smoke coming from a commercial building. This was a false alarm due to steam from a heating system.

False alarm – Leeman Road, York

Time of call: 0414 hours

Crews from Acomb and York have investigated a smell of burning in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to acrid fumes from a melting plastic LED tealight left on top of a storage heater. No fire. Advice given to resident.
