Incident Summary – Night Shift Monday 8th August 2016

 

False alarm – Boroughbridge Road, Northallerton

Time of call: 1719 hours

A crew from Northallerton has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to fumes from cooking.

 

False alarm – Melrose Street, Scarborough

Time of call: 1736 hours

A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a damaged detector.

 

Grill fire – Paston Walk, York

Time of call: 1746 hours

Crews from York and Acomb have dealt with a grill fire in a 2nd floor flat. Fire damage was caused to the grill only. Smoke detectors were fitted, they activated and raised the alarm. The cause is a faulty gas supply. The fire was out on our arrival and crews carried out an inspection only.

 

Washing machine fire – Seafield Avenue, Scarborough

Time of call: 1750 hours

2 crews from Scarborough have dealt with a washing machine on fire in a semi detached bungalow. Fire damage was caused to the washing machine and the kitchen suffered smoke damage. Smoke detectors were fitted in the property but did not activate as smoke did not reach them. The cause is an electrical fault on the washing machine and crews have used a dry powder extinguisher, 1 hosereel, hand tools and a positive pressure ventilation fan.

 

Grass fire – A19 southbound verge near Crathorne junction

Time of call 1803 hours

A crew from Yarm has dealt with a fire to the grass verge beside the A19 dual carriageway. The cause was accidental and they have used 1 hosereel.

 

False alarm – Fearby Road, Masham

Time of call: 1829 hours

A crew from Masham has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

 

Baler on fire - Main Street, Potter Brompton

Time of call: 1931 hours

A crew from Scarborough has been called to a baler on fire in a field. 30% fire damage was caused to the baler. The crew have used 1 hose reel jet, a thermal imaging camera, pitchforks and farm machinery. The cause was a overheated bearing.

 

Bales on fire – Main Street, Kirkby Misperton

Time of call: 1933 hours

A crew from Pickering has been called to approximately 12 bales of straw on fire on an archery site. The cause is deliberate and the crew have used 1 main jet, 2 hosereel jets, pitchforks and ceiling hooks.

 

Fire in woods – Darlington Road, Richmond

Time of call: 1943 hours

A crew from Richmond has been called to reports of a fire in woodland. This was a small camp fire which had been left unattended. A wildfire pack and buckets of water were used.

 

False alarm – Fetter Lane, York

Time of call: 2113 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to fumes from cooking.

 

False alarm – Clive Road, Spofforth

Time of call: 2141 hours

A crew from Harrogate has been called to reports of a fire on a playing field. This was a false alarm due to sparks from downed electrical lines which has also caused a power cut in the area. Our crew cordoned the area off and left the incident with the electricity board.

 

Caravan fire – Ellerton

Time of call: 2214 hours

Crews from Richmond and Colburn have dealt with a fire in a caravan on a camp site. The caravan was totally destroyed by fire. Our crews used 2 breathing apparatus and 2 hosereels. The cause is believed to be an electrical fault.

 

Property fire – Middleton Quernhow

Time of call: 2224 hours

2 crews from Ripon and a crew from Thirsk have tackled a blaze in an outbuilding attached to a domestic property. This has resulted in substantial damage to the outbuilding and damage also to the kitchen of the property. Crews have used 2 breathing apparatus, 2 hosereels, thermal imaging camera and lighting. The cause is under investigation and the incident remains open for a revisit on Tuesday morning.

 

False alarm – Kings Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 0149 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown fault in the system.

 

False alarm – Thorpe Underwood

Time of call: 0301 hours

A crew from Boroughbridge has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to dust in the detector.

 

False alarm – Firwood Whin, York

Time of call: 0334 hours

A crew from Huntington has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault in the detector.
