Incient Summary - Night Shift Saturday 14th April

15th April 2018

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Beckfield Lane, York - Time of call 17:05

Fire crews from Acomb responded to a camper van well alight on a domestic driveway. Cause of fire is believed to be an engine fault.  Crews extinguished the fire using foam, two breathing apparatus and one hose reel and requested assistance from a further appliance (York). Despite the efforts of the crews the van was destroyed by fire, the fire also damaged the upstairs window of the property and a part of the roof lining. Crews also winched the vehicle away from property.

Common Lane, Burn - Time of call 17:43

Selby fire crews responded to a substantial amount of wood, kitchen appliances and general waste on fire in a field. The crews extinguished this fire using one hose reel. The cause of fire is believed to be controlled burning left unsupervised.

Near Whitcliffe Lane, Ripon - Time of call 17:58

Ripon and Harrogate fire crews attended a fire involving a large empty disused school. The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate involving a small amount of rubbish set alight inside an old classroom. The classroom was severely damaged by fire and crews requested the assistance of the aerial ladder platform from Harrogate and extra support from Boroughbridge and Knaresborough crews. Crews were in attendance for approximately two and half hours before leaving.  ** The incident remains open for revisits by crews on Sunday **

Boroughbridge - Time of call 19:46

Crews attended a fire in the garden of a domestic property however this was being well supervised and Fire Service assistance was not needed.

Northallerton - Time of call 19:49

Northallerton crews responded to a smoke alarm activation at a residential property. The cause of the alarm was due to a small fire involving food inside a microwave. The food was badly burnt but there was no other fire damage involved. The crew ventilated the property.

Wooler Street, Scarborough - Time of call 20:43

Scarborough crews responded to a smoke alarm activation at a domestic property. This was a false alarm. Someone had deliberately activated the alarm by breaking the glass panel.

Danby - Time of call 21:25

Fire crew from Danby assisted a male locked inside a public toilet and was unable to get out by himself.

Whixley - Time of call 21:47

Knareborough and Acomb fire crew responded to reports of a fire sighted in a domestic property on the ground floor. On arrival crews confirmed that the fire that was sighted was actually someone having a bonfire and it was well supervised.

Shipton Road, Skelton  - Time of call 22:40

Acomb crew responded to a person stuck in a Hotel lift. Crew used lift keys to release doors and allow person out of lift.

Grosmont, Whitby - Time of call 22:29

Fire crews from Goathland and Whitby responded to a chimney fire at a domestic property. The cause of the fire is believed to be a build up of soot inside flue. Crews extinguished fire and checked for hotspots.

Swan Hill Road, Scarborough - Time of call 00:34

Scarborough crews attended a smoke alarm activation at a residential property. This was a false alarm caused by a fault on the system

Fairfax Court, York - Time of call 01:00

Fire crews from Acomb attended a fire alarm activation at a domestic property. This was also a false alarm caused by a fault in the system.

Ripon - Time of call 01:51

Fire crews from Ripon responded to reports of smoke coming from a pub. This was a false alarm as smoke was coming from a firework outside the pub. Fire service not required,

Acomb – Time of call 02:52

A crew from Acomb responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential building. False alarm due to a fault on the system.

Northallerton – time of call 03:05

Northallerton crew have responded to a smoke alarm in a commercial property. False alarm due to dust in the detector.

Harrogate – Time of call 06:10

2 crews from Harrogate have responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. False alarm due to a fault on the system.
