Incident Summary – Night Shift Saturday 19th November


Road traffic collision – A19, Eggborough

Time of call: 1741 hours

Crews from Selby and Pontefract have dealt with a road traffic collision involving a Renault Clio and a Ford Focus. The male driver of the Clio was not trapped and was uninjured. 3 males in the Focus received treatment by paramedics on scene for minor injuries but did not go to hospital. Fire crews made the vehicles safe and assisted with casualty care. Lighting and hand tools were used.


Cooker fire – Lothersdale

Time of call: 1823 hours

2 crews from Skipton have been called to a cooker fire in a residential property. Resulted in fire damage to fan in electric oven. Fire was out on arrival. Crew isolated power to oven and removed it from property. The cause is believed to be an electrical fault.


False alarm – Dallamires Way, Ripon

Time of call: 2137 hours

2 crews from Ripon have responded to reports of smoke coming from an industrial unit. This was a false alarm due to steam.


Road traffic collision – High Street, Catterick Village

Time of call: 2155 hours

Crews from Richmond and Colburn have been called to road traffic collision involving a car which had collided with 2 stationary vehicles. No persons trapped. 2 occupants of vehicle were treated for minor injuries on scene. Crews assisted paramedics with first aid and carried out scene safety.


Mattress fire – Ava Road, Catterick

Time of call: 0507 hours

Crews from Colburn and Richmond have been called to a mattress on fire in a ground floor bedroom. Fire damage was caused to the mattress and adjacent carpet and furniture. The fire was out on our arrival and the crews have removed the mattress to the open air. They have also used a thermal imaging camera. The cause is believed to be careless use of a candle.


Bin fire – off Leeman Road, York

Time of call: 0538 hours

A crew from York has dealt with a bin fire in the open. The cause was a discarded cigarette and the crew used a bucket of water.


False alarm - Ascot Way, York

Time of call: 0623 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to burnt toast.
