Round up of incidents for Night Shift 23rd April

 

False alarm – rear of Birch Close, York

Time of call: 1746 hours

A crew from York has been called to a report of bushes on fire. This was a false alarm due to controlled burning under supervision.

 

Tree fire – Airy Hill, Whitby

Time of call: 2050 hours

A crew from Whitby and the volunteers from Goathland have dealt with a tree fire which was started at the base and spread up the inside before breaking out approximately 20 ft up. Crews prevented the fire spreading to adjacent trees but were unable to totally extinguish the fire inside the trunk. Crews used 1 hosereel, 4 backpack sprayers, lighting, 9m ladder and thermal imaging camera.  A revisit will be carried out on Sunday morning.

 

Rescue – Norton Road, Malton

Time of call: 2111 hours

A crew from Malton has rescued a male who had fallen down a river embankment and become stuck. The intoxicated male (aged 61) was assisted back up the bank by the fire crew and suffered minor cuts and grazes. He was then escorted home by a family member.

 

Car fire – Redgrave Close, York

Time of call: 2245 hours

A crew from York has dealt with a car fire. The Ford Focus, which is believed to have been stolen, suffered severe fire damage. The cause is deliberate and crews used 1 hosereel and 1 breathing apparatus.

 

Gorse fire – Beck Hole

Time of call: 2249 hours

A crew from Lythe has attended at approximately 140 sq meters of gorse on fire. The cause is deliberate and as the fire was out on arrival, a thermal imaging camera was used for inspection only.

 

Gorse fire – Beck Hole

Time of call: 2243 hours

A crew from Lythe has attended a second gorse fire in the Beck Hole area. This time approximately 25 sq metres of gorse was involved. The cause is deliberate and the crew used 1 hosereel and a thermal imaging camera.

 

False alarm – Slingsby Crescent, Harrogate

Time of call: 0010 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the system. A thermal imaging camera was used for inspecting the property.

 

False alarm – Cardale Park, Harrogate

Time of call: 0155 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a faulty detector head.
