Incident Summary – Night Shift Saturday 25th March

Rubbish fire – Link Walk, Eastfield

Time of call: 1700 hours

A crew rom Scarborough has dealt with a rubbish fire in the open. Crew used 1 hose reel to extinguish. The cause is believed to be deliberate.

Rescue from river – Waterside, Knaresborough

Time of call: 1700 hours

Crews from Knaresborough and Harrogate have assisted at an incident where a family of 5 had entered the water after their dingy had capsized. All 5 were rescued by members of the public prior to our arrival. Fire crews made the boat safe and assisted with casualty care. All 5 casualties received a precautionary check up on scene by paramedics.

Chimney fire – Chapel Lane, Sawdon

Time of call: 1710 hours

A fire engine and aerial ladder platform from Scarborough have dealt with a chimney fire in a domestic property. The cause is believed to be an accumulation of clinker and soot. The crews used 1 hose reel via the aerial ladder, a thermal imaging camera and hand tools.

Bin fire – Christ Church Oval, Harrogate

Time of call: 1754 hours

A crew from Harrogate has dealt with a bin fire in the open. The cause was a carelessly discarded barbecue and the crew used a bucket of water to extinguish.

Grass fire  -Quakers Lane, Richmond

Time of call: 1838 hours

A crew from Richmond has dealt with a rucksack on fire in the open. The cause was deliberate by children. The fire was out on our arrival.

Chimney fire – Station Road, Goldsborough

Time of call: 1842 hours

A crew from Knaresborough has dealt with a chimney fire in a domestic property. The cause is believed to be an accumulation of soot. Crew used 1 hose reel, chimney rods, hearth kit and a thermal imaging camera.

Grass fire – Colburn Business Park, Catterick Garrison

Time of call: 1846 hours

A crew from Colburn has been called to a small disposable barbecue left unattended. A small amount of water was used to cool the barbecue so it could be discarded safely.

False alarm – Coney Street, York

Time of call: 2047 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

Bin fire – Tower Street, York

Time of call: 2207 hours

A crew from York has dealt with a small bin fire. The cause was a dropped light and the crew used 1 hose reel.

False alarm – Ryefield Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 2251 hours

A crew from Scarborough has been called to reports of a fire in the open. This was a false alarm due to controlled burning under supervision.

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to smokers materials inside the building.

False alarm – Castle Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 0211 hours

A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

False alarm – Riccall Lane, Kelfield

Time of call: 0324 hours

A crew from Selby has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

Malicious false alarm – Scalby Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 0345 hours

 A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a malicious false alarm due to the deliberate activation of a break glass point.
