Incident Summary – Night Shift Saturday 5th November

 Unattended bonfire – Hopper Hill Road, Eastfield

Time of call: 1723 hours

A crew from Scarborough has been called to a large bonfire which had been lit and left unattended. The crew stood by allowing the fire to burn under supervision until the landowner could be contacted and instructed to return. Advice was given.

 Unattended bonfire – Green Lane, Whitby

Time of call: 1737 hours

A crew from Whitby has been called to a bonfire left unattended in close proximity to properties. The crew have used ceiling hooks, spades, shovels and a wildfire backpack to extinguish it. The cause was deliberate by youths.

 False alarm – Three Lakes Retail Park, Selby

Time of call: 1838 hours

A crew from Selby has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a retail property. This was a false alarm due to smoke percolating into the building from an outside source.

 False alarm – Endcliff Crescent, Scarborough

Time of call: 1847 hours

A crew from Scarborough has been called to reports of a large bonfire in the rear garden of a domestic property. This was a false alarm as the fire was in a safe position, was of a suitable size and the occupier had taken safety measures.

 False alarm – Howe Hill Road, York

Time of call: 1916 hours

A crew from York has been called to reports of a bonfire close to a fence on the allotments. This was a false alarm as the fire was in a safe location, under supervision and safety measures had been taken.

 Hedge fire – Ploughlands, Haxby

Time of call: 1947 hours

A crew from Huntington has extinguished approximately 15m of conifer hedge that was on fire. The cause was spread from a bonfire and the crew used 1 hosereel.

 Trailer fire – Back Lane, Leavening

Time of call: 2044 hours

A crew from Malton has extinguished a horse box trailer on fire in a farm yard. The structure of the trailer suffered 100% fire damage. The cause is unknown and the crew used 1 hosereel.

 Rubbish fire – James Street, York

Time of call: 2048 hours

A crew from York has been called to a rubbish fire in the open. The cause was accidental and was out on our arrival.

 False alarm – Chesney Fields, York

Time of call: 2112 hours

A crew from Acomb has been called to reports of a fire in the rear garden of a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to a bonfire under supervision.

 False alarm – Ousegate, Selby

Time of call: 2226 hours

A crew from Selby has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

 Fire safety issue – Sandhill Lane, Selby

Time of call: 2245 hours

A crew from Selby has been called to a bonfire event following concerns over the safety of misspent fireworks. The crew submerged the fireworks in a bucket of water.

 False alarm – Piccadilly, York

Time of call: 0655 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.
