Incident Summary Night Shift Sunday 15th July 2018

16th July 2018

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Norton, Malton

Time of call: 17:21

Crews from Malton, Sherburn, Knaresborough and York were called to a stubble field on fire. The fire was to a combine harvester which then spread to a stubble field and straw on the ground. Crews used 5 hose reels beaters and used our  all terrain appliance from Kirkbymoorside to assist also.

Riggs Spring

Time of call: 18:41

Crews from Summerbridge and Harrogate were called to a grass fire in the woods covering an area of 6m x 6m . The crews used  2 hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

M62 W J34

Time of call: 19:18

Crews from Selby and the Snaith appliance from Humberside Fire and Rescue Service were called to what was believed to be a car fire on the Westbound carriageway of the M62. This was a false alarm as it was a blown gear box that was mistaken for a fire.

Foxholes, Driffield

Time of call: 19:27

A crew from Scarborough were called to approximately 25 square metres of gorse and bracken on fire. Crews used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish this.

Harwood Dale Forest

Time of call: 19:39

Crews  from Robin Hood’s Bay and Scarborough were called to a report of smouldering in the woodland. The Robin Hood’s bay appliance arrived and the fire was out on their arrival. They did not require the attendance of Scarborough and the crew assisted with dampening down the area.

First Avenue, Harrogate

Time of call: 19:44

A crew from Knaresborough was called to a pile of grass on fire. The fire was out on arrival and no assistance was need from our crew.

Tennent Road, York

Time of call: 20:56

A crew from Acomb was called to a small grass fire in the open. This was a fire measuring 10m x 10m. The crew used beaters to extinguish the fire.

Paradise Road, Boltby

Time of call: 21:00

A crew from Thirsk were called to a fire in the woods. This was 15m x 3m and was believed to have been a camp fire that had been left unattended.

Cass Lane, Calcutt

Time of call: 23:15

Crews from Knaresborough and Harrogate were called to a report of smoke sighted possibly coming from a barn. When the crews arrived there was no longer smoke in the area. This was a false alarm.

Halstead Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 00:06

A crew from Harrogate was called to a fire in the back garden of a residential property. This was a fire to a pergola which spread to associated bushes and trees. Crews extinguished this using a knapsack sprayer, buckets of water and the resident’s garden hose.

Ouse Bridge, York

Time of call: 04:18

Crews from York with the boat and crews from Acomb along with an officer were called to reports of two females and one male all in their twenties who were in the river. Crews rescued all three and they were left in hands of Paramedics for further checks.

In addition to these incidents we also attended automatic fire alarm activations in Scarborough, York, Selby & Filey.
