Incident Summary – Night Shift Sunday 16th April

 

House fire – Tulip Avenue, Colburn

Time of call: 1629 hours

Crews from Richmond and Bedale have attended a fire in the bedroom of a domestic property. Approximately 1 sqm of fire damage was caused and the remainder of the property was smoke logged. The cause is believed to be careless use of smokers materials and the crews used 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hosereel and a thermal imaging camera.

 

False alarm – North Street, York

Time of call: 1825 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm – believed to be a fault on the system.

 

House fire – Station Road, Tadcaster

Time of call: 2010 hours

2 crews from Tadcaster have attended a fire involving a tortoise pen in the lounge of a domestic property. 4sqm of fire, heat and smoke damage caused to carpet and wooden pen. Smoke logging to first and second floors. Crew used 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hr jet and positive pressure ventilation fan. Smoke detectors fitted, activated and raised alarm. Tortoise was uninjured! Cause believed to be faulty heat lamp.

 

Chimney fire – Mayfield Grove, York

Time of call: 2020 hours

A crew from Acomb has dealt with a chimney fire in the flue of a wood burning stove in a residential property. The crew have used a 9m ladder, roof ladder, 1 hosereel, thermal imaging camera and chimney kit. The cause ise believed to be accumulation of soot.

 

Lift rescue – West Bank, Scarborough

Time of call: 2115 hours

A crew from Scarborough has rescued 5 people from a lift after it became stuck between 2 floors. An ambulance was called to provide a precautionary check to 1 person suffering shock.

 

False alarm – Carmelite Street, York

Time of call: 2133 hours

A crew rom York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the system.

 

False alarm – James Street, Harrogate

Time of call: 0159 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown fault.

 

False alarm – Holme Lane, Cross Hills

Time of call: 0628 hours

2 crews from Skipton have responded to reports of smoke coming from a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to steam from a boiler.
