Incident Summary – Night Shift Sunday 27th May

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

False alarm – Flawith

Time of call: 1753 hours

Fire engines from Easingwold, Acomb and an Incident Support Unit from Ripon have been mobilised to reports of smoke coming from an animal feed silo at a farm. A full investigation of the site was carried out but no fire could be located. This is believed to be a false alarm due to smoke from a generator on site.

Garage fire – Fadmoor

Time of call: 1821 hours

Crews from Kirkbymoorside and Pickering have been called to a fire involving a wooden garage at a domestic property. Damage was caused to the roof and wall of the garage. The owner used a garden hose prior to our attendance. Crews used a hose reel and thermal imaging camera. The cause is believed to be residual heat from roofing work carried out earlier in the day.

Bin fire – Sea Cliff Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 2146 hours

A crew from Scarborough has dealt with a bin on fire in a car park on Sea Cliff Road. The bin was severely damaged by the fire which is believed to have been started by a carelessly discarded barbecue. A hosereel was used to extinguish the fire.

False alarm – East Mount, Malton

Time of call: 2204 hours

A crew from Malton has been called to reports of a fire in woodland. A full search of the area was carried out but no incident located.

False alarm – Throxenby Lane, Scarborough

Time of call: 2223 hours

A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to accidental activation by a resident.

False alarm – Thorpe Underwood

Time of call: 0024 hours

A crew from Boroughbridge has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to dust in the detector head.

False alarm – Glusburn

Time of call: 0137 hours

A crew from Skipton has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to the intruder alarm sounding. Crew fit smoke alarms prior to leaving the property.

 Bin fire - Sandside, Scarborough

Time of call: 0249 hours

A crew from Scarborough has dealt with a bin fire. They used 1 hosereel to extinguish the fire which is believed to have started due to carelessly discarded cooking waste.

 Car fire – B1263, near Scorton

Time of call: 0312 hours

Crews from Colburn and Richmond have dealt with a BMW car on fire. The vehicle was totally destroyed by fire. Crews used 2 hosereels, breathing apparatus, electric cutters and thermal imaging cameras. The cause is believed to be deliberate.

False alarm – Carmelite Street, York

Time of call: 0622 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential building. This was a false alarm due to aerosol deodorant.
