Incident Summary – Night Shift – Sunday 7th October

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

False alarm – Park Row, Selby

Time of call: 1636 hours

A crew from Selby has dealt with a small fire involving twigs and leaves. Crew extinguished using a bucket of water. Cause believed to be deliberate.

False alarm – Seamer Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 1740 hours

A crew from Scarborough has been called to a chimney fire in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to excessive smoke and sparks from a freshly lit fire.

Bales on fire – Chequer Lane, Riccall

Time of call: 1855 hours

A crew from Selby has dealt with a large fire involving approximately 150 round bales of straw. All bales destroyed by fire. Crew used 1 hosereel, pitchforks and rakes. The cause is believed to be deliberate.

False alarm – George Hudson Street, York

Time of call: 2057 hours

Crews from York and Acomb have investigated a smell of smoke in a commercial property. This was a false alarm. Full search of building carried out. Believed to have been air freshener used in toilets.

False alarm – Holly Walk, Scarborough

Time of call: 2211 hours

A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to smokers materials.

Effect entry – Stuart Avenue, Richmond

Time of call: 0037 hours

A crew from Richmond has assisted Yorkshire Ambulance service gain entry to a domestic property to access a patient. Crew used small tools.

False alarm – Market Place, Malton

Time of call: 0042 hours

A crew from Malton has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

Chimney fire – Lowdale Lane, Sleights

Time of call: 0153 hours

A crew from Whitby has dealt with a chimney fire in a domestic property. Crew used 1 hosereel, chimney rods, thermal imaging camera, triple extension ladder and hearth kit. The cause is believed to be an accumulation of soot.

False alarm – Osbaldwick Lane, York

Time of call: 0509 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to a faulty detector head.
