False alarm – A1 southbound exit slip at Junction 46, Wetherby Services Time of call: 1803 hours

Fire crews from Harrogate and Tadcaster have been called to reports of a car on fire on the slip road from the A1 southbound carriageway. This was a false alarm due to oil falling onto the hot engine and causing excessive smoke.

Road traffic collision – Lythe Bank, A174, Lythe Time of call: 1826 hours

Fire crews from Lythe and Whitby have been called to a single vehicle road traffic collision. One car had overturned on Lythe Bank but no persons were trapped. Crews assisted with scene safety using manpower only.

False alarm – A59 near Upper Poppleton Time of call: 1841 hours

2 crews from Acomb have been called to reports of a lorry on fire in a layby. A full search of the area was carried out but no incident was located.

Cooker fire – Sea View Gardens, Weaponess, Scarborough Time of call: 1951 hours

2 crews from Scarborough have been called to a fire in the kitchen of a semi detached bungalow. Fire damage was limited to the interior of the oven only. Fire fighters isolated the cooker from the gas supply. Smoke detectors were fitted in the property and activated. The cause is believed to be a build up of cooking oil and residue.

False alarm – High Street, Skipton Time of call: 2005 hours

A crew from Skipton has been called to investigate the activation of a smoke alarm at a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to the accidental activation of a break glass panel.

Car fire – A65, Giggleswick Time of call: 2347 hours

A crew from Settle has been called to a car fire involving a Vauxhall Zafira. This has resulted in approximately 80% fire damage to the vehicle. The crew used a hosereel and 1 breathing apparatus. The cause is believed to be due to a minor collision with a sheep.

False alarm – Sharow Lane, Sharow Time of call: 0009 hours

2 crews from Ripon have been called to reports of smoke coming rom a wall in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to fumes from a faulty electrical switch. A thermal imaging camera was used to carry out an inspection.

False alarm – Lennerton Lane, Sherburn in Elmet Time of call: 0300 hours

A crew from Tadcaster has been called to investigate the activation of a smoke alarm at a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault in the detection system.
