Incident Summary – Night Shift Thursday 10th May

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Hedge fire – Dalton, Thirsk

Time of call: 1842 hours

A crew from Thirsk has been called to reports of a hedge on fire. Approximately 2 sqm of hedge was damaged. Crew used a hosereel and the cause is unknown.

Rescue – Slessor Road, York

Time of call: 1901 hours

A crew from Acomb has been called to rescue a 15 year old male who had become trapped in a baby swing. Crew used a socket set and tool kit to dismantle the swim to allow the youth to be released unharmed.

Rubbish fire – off Endcliff Crescent, Scarborough

Time of call: 2053 hours

A crew from Scarborough has been called to reports of a fire in the open on public land. Advice was given to the person burning refuse and the fire was allowed to burn out. Police also attended.

Rubbish fire – York Street, Crathorne

Time of call: 2240 hours

A crew from Stokesley has been called to reports of a rubbish fire under a bridge. The crew used a hosereel to extinguish and the cause is unknown.

False alarm – Old Airfield Industrial Estate, Dalton

Time of call: 0253 hours

A crew from Thirsk has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial unit. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detector.

Car fire – A64, EBC, Fulford

Time of call: 0618 hours

Crews from Huntington, York and Acomb have dealt with a car fire involving a Vauxhall Astra. Damage was limited to the engine compartment only. A dry powder extinguisher was used prior to our arrival. Fire crews used a hosereel to cool the engine. The cause is believed to be an electrical fault.
