Incident Summary – Night Shift Thursday 10th November

False alarm – Clifford Street, York

Time of call: 1706 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to the system being tested on site.

False alarm – Forest Lane, Harrogate

Time of call: 1729 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to smokers materials.

Chimney fire – Station Road, Scalby

Time of call: 1844 hours

A crew from Scarborough has dealt with a chimney fire in a detached domestic property. The cause was a blockage in the flue and the crew used a wildfire backpack and a thermal imaging camera.

Greenhouse fire – Ashfield Close, Constable Burton

Time of call: 1907 hours

A crew from Leyburn has dealt with a fire in a greenhouse which spread and also caused damage to a fence and adjacent shrubs. The greenhouse was totally destroyed. The cause is believed to be a kerosene heater placed too close to combustibles and the fire crew used 1 hosereel jet.

House fire – Main Road, Aislaby, Whitby

Time of call: 1913 hours

Crews from Whitby, Lythe and Robin Hoods Bay have been called to a fire in 2 storey domestic property. This involved wood that ignited after being placed too close to a wood burning stove. Damage was limited to the wood only. Fire crews carried out an inspection and gave advice to the occupier.

Rubbish fire – Dalby Avenue, Harrogate

Time of call: 2039 hours

A crew from Harrogate has dealt with a small rubbish fire in the open. The cause was deliberate and the crew used a bucket of water.

Rescue from bathroom – Wenlock Terrace, York

Time of call: 2059 hours

A crew from York has rescued a female from the bathroom of a residential property after the lock failed. The crew used hand tools.

Rubbish fire – Brackenhill Lane, Brayton

Time of call: 2126 hours

A crew from Selby has dealt with a rubbish fire in the open. The cause was deliberate and the crew used 1 hosereel.

False alarm – Kirkham Close, Whitby

Time of call: 2153 hours

A crew from Whitby has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

Water leak – Commercial Street, Norton

Time of call: 2256 hours

A crew from Malton has responded to water leaking from a first floor flat into a commercial property. The electricity supply was isolated and advice given to the occupants.

Fire – Kings Gardens, Sowerby

Time of call: 0253 hours

A crew from Thirsk has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. On their arrival they discovered a waste paper bin had been on fire in the bedroom of a semi detached bungalow. The fire was out on arrival and fire damage was limited to the bin only. The whole of the bungalow was smoke logged and crew ventilated the property. The cause is believed to be discarded smokers material.

A crew from Harrogate have responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a smoke cloak activation.

False alarm – Lucombe Way, New Earswick

Time of call: 0659 hours

A crew from Huntington has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.
