Incident Summary – Night Shift Thursday 14th June

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

House fire – Burnside Crescent, Skipton

Time of call: 1544 hours

2 crews from Skipton and a crew from Earby have dealt with a fire to a domestic property. The fire started in a garden shed and spread to a conservatory. The shed was totally destroyed by fire and damage was caused to the conservatory. Crews used 4 breathing apparatus, 2 hosereel jets, a ladder and thermal imaging camera. The cause is unknown.

House fire – Wheatfield Lane, Haxby

Time of call: 1752 hours

8 fire engines from Huntington, Acomb, York, Easingwold, Tadcaster & Selby, an aerial ladder from Harrogate and welfare appliances from Thirsk have dealt with a fire in a block of residential properties. The fire started in a first floor flat resulting in severe fire damage. Fire damage was also caused to adjacent properties and the roof and the whole building suffered smoke damage. Crews used 24 breathing apparatus, 5 hosereel jets, 5 jets, ladders including the aerial ladder and thermal imaging cameras. 2 residents were taken to hospital but their injuries are not believed to be lift threatening.  The incident remains open for a revisit on Friday morning. The cause is to be confirmed.

Rubbish fire – Throxenby Mere, Scarborough

Time of call: 1754 hours

A crew from Scarborough has extinguished a small grass fire in the open. Crew used a knapsack sprayer and buckets of water. The cause is believed to be deliberate by youths.

False alarm – Eggborough

Time of call: 1813 hours

A crew from Selby has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to a fault in the detector.

Grass fire – Musham Bank Road, Eastfield

Time of call: 2006 hours

A crew from Scarborough has dealt with a small grass fire in the open. Fire was out on our arrival. Crew used a knapsack sprayer to damp down the area. The cause is believed to be a discarded cigarette.

False alarm – Albermarle Back Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 2019 hours

A crew from Filey has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown fault.

Making safe – Parliament Street, Harrogate

Time of call: 2043 hours

A crew from Boroughbridge (on standby at Harrogate) has been called to inspect a glass canopy over a commercial property following a minor road traffic collision involving a Jaguar which had collided with a Fiat, A Peugeot and the canopy bollard. Crew used a triple extension ladder to carry out a full inspection of the glass canopy.

 False alarm – Leeds Road, Tadcaster

Time of call: 2056 hours

A crew from Thirsk (on standby at Tadcaster) have responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault in the detection system.

False alarm – Station Parade, Harrogate

Time of call: 0025 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to an intruder alarm sounding.
