Incident Summary - Night Shift Thursday 27th October

27th October 2016

Fire – Charles Court, Strensall Time of call: 1655 hours

A crew from Huntington has dealt with a number of plastic plant pots on fire inside a greenhouse at a commercial property. The cause was carelessly discarded smokers materials. The fire was extinguished prior to our arrival by staff using foam extinguishers. Inspection only by fire crew.

False alarm – Mill Meadows Lane, Filey Time of call: 1719 hours

A crew from Filey has been called to reports of a fire in the open. This was a false alarm due to controlled burning under supervision. Advice given.

Road traffic collision – Corban Lane, Shipton by Beningbrough Time of call: 1803 hours

Crews from Acomb and Huntington have dealt with a 2 vehicle road traffic collision involving a Citroen C1 and a Ford Ka. Male occupant of Ford was not trapped and has been taken to hospital with minor injuries. The occupants of the Citroen were not trapped. Female driver and young boy suffered minor injuries. Young girl suffered serious injuries. All have been taken to hospital.

Chimney fire – High Street, Lockton Time of call: 2051 hours

A crew from Pickering has dealt with a chimney fire in a residential property. The fire was confined to the flue of the wood burning stove. The cause – was an accumulation of wood resin and soot. Our crew used Thermal imaging camera, 1 hr, chimney kit and lighting. Advice was given to the occupier.

Removal of object – Fire Station, Scarborough Time of call: 2137 hours

A Scarborough crew has removed a bike lock which had become stuck on a 10 year old boys head. Bolt croppers were used and the boy was unharmed.

Road traffic collision – A63, Selby Fork Time of call: 0057 hours

2 fire crews and a water bowser from Tadcaster, along with fire crews from Pontefract and Garfoth have dealt with a road traffic collision involving 3 large goods vehicles. The first LGV was carrying a mixture of goods and the driver was neither trapped or injured. The second LGV was carrying fishfingers and again, the driver was neither trapped or injured. The third LGV was carrying 2 bulk containers of chemicals and a large quantity of 5 litre tins of paint thinners. The driver was trapped in the cab. He was extricated by fire crews using hydraulic cutting ans spreading equipment and taken to hospital suffering non life threatening leg and head injuries. Fire crews stood by whilst specialist vehicle recovery took place then the bowser provided water to Highways specialist road cleaning team.

Leaking toilet – Whin Bank, Scarborough Time of call: 0224 hours

A crew from Scarborough has isolated the water supply in a residential property after a toilet cistern failed and caused flooding within the property. The crew used hand tools.
