Incident Summary – Night Shift Thursday 29th June

 

Van fire – A170, Nelson Gate, Helmsley

Time of call: 1748 hours

A crew from Kirkbymoorside has dealt with a Ford van on fire on the A170 near the Sproxton junction at Helmsley. The van suffered extensive fire, heat and smoke damage to the engine and front. The cause is believed to be an engine fault and crew used 2 breathing apparatus and 1 hosereel to extinguish.

 

Oven fire – St Hildas Court, Whitby

Time of call: 1751 hours

Crews from Whitby and Lythe have dealt with an oven on fire in a second floor flat. This resulted in fire damage to the cooker and smoke damage to the kitchen. Fortunately smoke detectors were fitted, they activated and raised the alarm. The cause is believed to be cooking left unattended. Crews used 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet and a positive pressure ventilation fan.

 

False alarm – Brunswick Street, Whitby

Time of call: 1849 hours

A crew from Whitby has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a faulty detector head.

 

False alarm – Bullamoor Road, Northallerton

Time of call: 1942 hours

A crew from Northallerton has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to steam.

 

False alarm – Eastway, Scarborough

Time of call: 1951 hours

A crew from Scarborough has been called to a domestic property after the resident became concerned over her electrical box. This was a false alarm as there was no fire risk. Advice given to occupiers.

 

False alarm – Broughton Road, Skipton

Time of call: 2039 hours

A crew from Skipton has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to smokers materials.

Time of call: 2122 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

A crew from Tadcaster has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a faulty detector.

 

Flooding – Union Lane, Selby

Time of call: 0208 hours

A crew from Selby has been called to flooding inside a residential property. This was due to a burst pipe and was affecting the electrics. On site maintenance had isolated the leak and was contacting an electrician. No action taken by fire crew.
