Incident Summary - Night Shift Tuesday 20th March

21st March 2018

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Melmerby TOC: 1902

Crews from Ripon were called to a fire alarm sounding in a commercial property. On arrival they discovered the cause of the alarm was steam.

Youlton TOC: 1917

Crews from Easingwold were called to a smoke alarm sounding in a residential property. On arrival the crews discovered the cause of the alarm was smoke escaping from log burner when door was open.

Selby Bypass, Selby TOC: 1941

Two crews from Selby were mobilised to a heavy goods vehicle trailer which was reportedly on fire. On arrival crews discovered it was a false alarm good intent. The smoke from cab heater mistaken for fire.

York TOC: 2011

A crew from York were mobilised to a fire alarm sounding the cause of the alarm was unknown activation of call point.

 Selby TOC: 2044

Crews from Selby were called to a chimney fire which they extinguished using hearth kit and thermal imaging camera.

Malton Road, Malton

Crews from Malton attended a rubbish fire in the open. They extinguished using back pack sprayer and buckets of water. The cause was controlled burning left unattended.

Off Filey Road, Scarborough TOC: 2133

Scarborough crews were called to reports of a fire in the open. On arrival they discovered one van on fire. The crews extinguished the fire using one hose reel and left in hands of Police to ascertain owner of the van.

Cumberland Street, York TOC: 0045

Crews from York attended a smoke alarm sounding in a commercial property. On arrival crews discovered the alarm was sounding due to a cosmetic smoke machine.

Amotherby, Malton TOC: 0326

Crews from Malton attended a smoke alarm sounding in a commercial property. On arrival crews discovered the alarm was sounding due to a fault in the detection system.

Clementhorpe, York TOC: 0625

Crews from York and Acomb attended reports of a potential gas leak in a domestic property. This was believed to be a false alarm due to an elderly occupier becoming confused.
