Incident Summary Night Shift Tuesday 21st August 2018

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

TOC    17:09  Huntington, York

A crew from York attended a fire to  5m of hedgerow, this was extinguished using one hose reel jet.

TOC    17:13   Sproxton, Helmsley

A crew from Kirkbymoorside attended a report of a fire in the open, this was found to be controlled burning under supervision.

TOC    17:46   Tollerton

A crew from Easingwold and Acomb attended a report of a JCB on fire, crews used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and small tools to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.

TOC    19:30   Copmanthorpe, York

A crew from York attended a report of a fire in the open, this was found to be controlled burning under supervision

TOC    20:49   Filey

A crew from Filey attended a bin fire, this was out on arrival, inspection only by the fire service. The cause is believed to have involved a disposable BBQ being placed inside the bin. Inspection only by fire service.

TOC 23:57      Rufforth near York

Crews from Acomb, York and Tadcaster attended a fire to 100 tonnes of straw, they used two hose reel jets to protect adjacent building storing upto 100 tonnes of hay bales. Crews are allowing the fire to burn under supervision whilst protecting neighbouring  buildings.

A crew remain on the scene this morning (730am 22nd August) and have been using a main jet to stop the fire from spreading. They are also working with the farmer to spread the straw out allowing it to be dampened down. They are likely to remain at the scene for some time.

Crews left this incident around 10:30am (22nd August) but will be conducting revisits later.

Automatic Fire Alarms.

In addition to the above, crews have attended reports of automatic fire alarms sounding in Knaresborough, Huntington, Thirsk, Harrogate, York and Acomb all of which were false alarms.
