Incident Summary – Night Shift Tuesday 21st February

 

House fire – Franklin Street, Scarborough

Time of call: 1647 hours

2 crews from Scarborough have been called to a fire in the living room of a residential property. Fire damage was caused to toys which had been placed on top of the gas fire. There was also smoke damage to the remainder of the property. The crews used 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel and a positive pressure ventilation fan. The cause is believed to be accidental.

 

False alarm – Canons Garth Lane, Helmsley

Time of call: 1701 hours

A crew from Helmsley has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due a power cut activating the alarm.

 

Building fire – Bad Bargain Lane, Heslington

Time of call: 1723 hours

A crew from York has dealt with a rubbish fire on the second floor of a derelict building. Less than 5sqm of damage was caused. The crew used a 45mm jet, thermal imaging camera and a triple extension ladder. The cause is believed to be deliberate.

 

False alarm – Herman Walk, York

Time of call: 1800 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

 

Road traffic collision – Harrogate Road, Leathley

Time of call: 1919 hours

Crews from Harrogate and Otley have dealt with a 3 vehicle road traffic collision involving a BMW, an Audi and a Ford Focus. Male driver of Ford was trapped in vehicle. He has been released and taken to hospital with suspected pelvic injuries. Male drivers of the BMW and Audi were not trapped but have been taken to hospital for precautionary check ups. Fire crew carried out extrication and assisted with first aid. Hydraulic cutting gear and lighting used.

 

False alarm – Guisborough Road, Great Ayton

Time of call: 2017 hours

A crew from Stokesley has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

 

False alarm – York Road, Flaxby

Time of call: 2054 hours

A crew from Knaresborough have responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

 

Gas leak – Yorkersgate, Malton

Time of call: 2101 hours

2 crews from Malton have been called to reports of a strong smell of gas in the area of Butchers Corner. A search was carried out using a gas detector and a gas engineer was requested to attend. A number of small gas leaks were discovered within the gas works being carried out in the area. The incident has been left with the gas engineer and a repair team.

 

Make safe – Rosebud Way, Colburn                 

Time of call: 2147 hours

A crew from Colburn has been sent to make safe a number of scaffolding poles on a property under constructions. High winds had loosened the scaffolding boards. Crew removed them using 2 harnesses, a 9m ladder and manpower.

 

False alarm – Grantley

Time of call: 2245 hours

A crew from Ripon has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

 

False alarm – Front Street, Acomb

Time of call: 0312 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a member of staff opening a fire door and triggering the alarm.

 

False alarm – High Street, Tadcaster

Time of call: 0544 hours

A crew from Tadcaster has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due a fault on the detection system.

 

Road traffic collision – A1 southbound near Marne Barracks

Time of call: 0610 hours

A crew from Richmond has attended a road traffic collision involving a HGV which had hit the central reservation. No persons trapped. No action required by fire service.
