Incident Summary – Night Shift Tuesday 27th November

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

False alarm – Fulford Road, York

Time of call: 1651 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to accidental activation of a break glass point.

Fire – Glaisdale

Time of call 1718 hours

Crews from Danby and Whitby have been called to a frying pan on fire in the kitchen of a holiday cottage. This resulted in fire damage to cooker top, extractor hood and ceiling. Also smoke damage to kitchen. Fire was extinguished by occupant using a fire blanket and dry powder extinguisher. Fire crews carried out an inspection using a thermal imaging camera. The cause is believed to be a pan left unattended. Smoke detectors were fitted in the property and activated which raised the alarm.

False alarm – Keighley Road, Skipton

Time of call: 1730 hours

A crew from Skipton has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to fumes from an exploded AA battery.

Fire – Mill Lane, South Milford

Time of call: 2036 hours

A crew from Tadcaster has attended a fire in an agricultural workshop which caused damage to a pile of wood and a wooden work bench. Fire was extinguished by occupant using buckets of water. Crew carried out inspection using thermal imaging camera and small tools. Cause believed to be radiated heat from a wood burning stove igniting adjacent wood.

False alarm – Birkin

Time of call: 2127 hours

A crew from Selby has investigated reports of chimney fire in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to steam from a chimney.

False alarm – Harlow Moor Drive, Harrogate

Time of call: 2306 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes 

False alarm – Harwood Road, Upper Poppleton

Time of call: 0434 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown fault on the system.

False alarm – Romanby Road, Northallerton

Time of call: 0656 hours

2 crews from Northallerton have investigated a smell of smoke in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to an overheating light fitting.
