Incident Summary – Night Shift Wednesday 22nd February

 

False alarm – Border Road, Strensall

Time of call: 1816 hours

A crew from Huntington has investigated reports of a fire in the open. This was a false alarm due to an Army training exercise.

 

Road traffic collision – A168, Kirby Hill

Time of call: 1826 hours

A crew from Boroughbridge has assisted at the scene of a road traffic collision involving 2 cars. No persons trapped. 1 male was suffering a medical episode but did not require hospital treatment. 1 female taken to hospital for a precautionary check up. Fire crew administered first aid and assisted with scene safety.

 

House fire – West Acres, Byram

Time of call: 1849 hours

Crews from Selby, Castleford and Pontefract have dealt with a fire in the kitchen of a residential property. Extensive fire, heat and smoke damage was caused to the kitchen. Severe fire, heat and smoke damage to remainder of property. 1 male rescued from flat roof by a neighbour and treated on scene for smoke inhalation. 2 dogs were fatal. Smoke detectors fitted in the property and activated but not reacted to initially. The cause is believed to be an electrical fault on an immersion heater.

 

False alarm – Stepney Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 1901 hours

2 crew from Scarborough have responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to smoking in a bedroom.

 

False alarm – Hackness Road, Upper Poppleton

Time of call: 2058 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

 

Car fire – Rombalds Drive, Skipton

Time of call: 0044 hours

A crew from Skipton have dealt with a car fire involving a Ford Focus. Fire, heat and smoke damage was caused to the engine compartment and remainder of the car. The cause is believed to be an electrical fault. Fire crew used 2 breathing apparatus and 1 hose reel jet.

 

False alarm – Eastfield Court, York

Time of call: 0130 hours

Crews from York and Acomb have investigated a smell of burning inside a residential property. This was a false alarm due to candles being used.
