Incident Summary – Night Shift Wednesday 22nd March

 

False alarm – Crescent Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 1803 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

 

Kitchen fire – Percy’s Lane, York

Time of call: 1905 hours

A crew from York have dealt with a grill pan fire in a residential building. Damage was limited to a small quantity of waste grease. The fire was out on our arrival but the crew have used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke from the kitchen. The cause is believed to be cooking left unattended. Smoke detectors were fitted, activated and raised the alarm.

 

Chimney fire – Front Street, Sowerby

Time of call: 1952 hours

Crews from Thirsk and Northallerton have been called to a chimney fire in a residential property. The cause is believed to be due to an accumulation of soot and the crew have used a squeezy bottle to extinguish.

 

Fire – Dragon Parade, Harrogate

Time of call: 2327 hours

2 crews from Harrogate have dealt with a fire in a domestic property. This involved a gas fire and has resulted in fire damage to the power switch on the appliance. Our crews used hand tools to  isolate the gas supply and gave advice to the occupier. The cause is believed to be a faulty power switch.

 

False alarm – Station Road, Thirsk

Time of call: 2331 hours

A crew from Thirsk has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a system fault.

 

Chimney fire – Scott Close, Sutton in Craven

Time of call: 0003 hours

A crew from Skipton has dealt with a chimney fire in a domestic property. The cause is believed to be an accumulation of debris in the flue from the log burning stove. The crew used a chimney sheet, small tools and a thermal imaging camera.

 

False alarm – Duchy Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 0137 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the system.
