Incident Summary Night Shift Wednesday 27th June 2018

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Haxby, York Time of call: 18:01

Crews were called to a report of an oven on fire in a residential property. The fire was out on our arrival. Crews used a ventilator to rid the property of smoke.

Central Way, Great Ayton Time of call: 18:21

A crew from Stokesley were called to a report of a shed on fire. The fire was to a fence panel and also one square metre of decking. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet and used small tools to cut away burnt wood.

Burton Stone Lane, York Time of call: 18:40

A crew from Acomb were called to a report of a small fire. Crews used a bucket of water and beaters to extinguish this.

M62 West Junction 34 Time of call: 19:04

Crews were called to a report of a fire in an embankment. The fire was believed to be caused by a HGV tyre which had left the scene. The fire was out on arrival.

Fire in the open – Ugthorpe Area Time of call: 22:42

An appliance from Lythe attended this incident and confirmed this was controlled burning with a responsible person looking after it.

Fire in the open – Commondale Area Time of call: 22:49

An appliance from Danby attended this incident which was a large bonfire which had been left unattended, crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

Fire in the open – Norwood, Harrogate  Time of call: 23:21

Appliances from Harrogate, Summerbridge, Cookbridge and Knaresborough attended this incident which was a large area (40x30m) of brush and woodland on fire. Crews are using  4 main jets to fight the fire.

The incident is still ongoing, and crews are likely to remain at the scene over night and into tomorrow morning.

House fire in Norton – Malton area Time of call: 03:28

Crews were called to reports of a fire in a residential premises. The crews used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire which is believed to have started on the first floor, causing significant damage. The cause is believed to have been accidental. Three people were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.

 Crews also attended to alarms sounding in Northallerton, Richmond and Whitby, which were all false alarms.
