Incident Summary – Night Shift Wednesday 9th May

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Bin fire – Station Rise, York

Time of call: 1730 hours

A crew from York has dealt with a bin fire. The crew used 1 hosereel to extinguish. The cause is believed to be deliberate.

Rubbish fire – Ashton Avenue, York

Time of call: 1830 hours

A crew from Acomb has dealt with an old fridge, mattress and rubbish fire in the garden of a domestic property. Crew used 1 hosereel jet to extinguish. The cause is believed to be an ember from a barbecue.

Kitchen fire – High Skellgate, Ripon

Time of call: 1832 hours

2 crews from Ripon have dealt with a microwave oven on fire in a domestic property. Damage was limited to the microwave only. The fire was out on our arrival but crews ventilated the property and carried out a full inspection. The cause is believed to be careless use of the microwave.

False alarm – off Hungate Lane, Hunmanby

Time of call: 1854 hours

A crew from Filey has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

Bin fire – James Street, Harrogate

Time of call: 1948 hours

A crew from Harrogate has dealt with a wheelie bin fire. Crew used a hosereel to extinguish. The cause is believed to be deliberate.

False alarm – Herman Walk, York

Time of call: 1949 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

Dangerous structure - Cambridge Street, Harrogate

Time of call: 2109 hours

An officer has been sent to investigate reports of loose roof tiles above a commercial property that were a risk to passing pedestrians. An inspection of the property was carried out but no loose tiles were found.

Bin fire – Overdale, Eastfield

Time of call: 2146 hours

A crew from Scarborough has dealt with a bin fire. Crew used a knapsack sprayer to extinguish. The cause is believed to be deliberate by youths.

False alarm – off Water Lane, York

Time of call: 2302 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a water leak affecting the system.

False alarm – Burton in Lonsdale

Time of call: 0018 hours

A crew from Bentham has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a domestic property. This was a false alarm as occupier had mistaken carbon monoxide detector for a smoke detector. Crew ventilated property as a precaution and left incident with National Grid engineer.

False alarm – Argyle Road, Whitby

Time of call: 0147 hours

A crew from Whitby has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.
