Incident Summary - Nightshift Saturday 31st January

31st January 2016

Kitchen fire – Beech Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 1711 hours

2 fire crews from Harrogate have dealt with a grill pan fire in the kitchen of a private semi detached property. Fire damage was caused to the food item and the cooker. The kitchen suffered slight smoke damage. Smoke detectors were fitted, they activated and they raised the alarm. The cause is believed to be an accumulation of grease.

False alarm – Hassacarr Close, Dunnington

Time of call: 1827 hours

A crew from York has investigated a smoke alarm activation at a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault in the smoke detector.

Car fire – Raincliffe Woods, Low Road, East Ayton

Time of call: 1913 hours

A crew from Scarborough has dealt with a car fire. The vehicle was totally destroyed by fire. Police also attended this incident. The cause is deliberate and 1 hosereel jet was used.

Unattended bonfire – Langburns Bank, Castleton

Time of call: 1932 hours

A crew from Danby has dealt with a large bonfire which had been left unattended. The fire, which was approximately 8m by 8m in size, was extinguished using 1 hosereel.

Malicious call – Foreshore Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 2012 hours

A crew from Scarborough has investigated reports of a fire in a commercial property following a call from a payphone. A child caller stated there was a fire in the building and then hung up. A full search of the address was made but no fire was located.

Bin fire – Trinity Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 2040 hours

A crew from Scarborough has dealt with a large bin fire. The cause is deliberate and 1 hosereel jet was used.

Bin fire – Trinity Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 2055 hours

Whist dealing with the previous bin fire, a crew from Scarborough discovered another bin fire in the area. This was also deliberate and 1 hosereel was used to extinguish it.

False alarm – Hackness Drive, Scarborough

Time of call: 2055 hours

A crew from Scarborough has investigated an acrid smell in the living room of a domestic property. The odour was believed to be coming from dust in a hot air heating system. Advice was given to the occupier. A thermal imaging camera was used to investigate.

False Alarm – Front Street, York

Time of call: 0440 hours

A crew from Acomb has investigated a smoke detector activation at a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a faulty break glass point.

Malicious alarm activation – Pond Garth, York

Time of call: 0554 hours

A crew from York has investigated a fire alarm activation at a residential apartment block. This was a false alarm due to malicious operation of the break glass point. Police also attended.

False alarm – Pond Garth, York

Time of call: 0631 hours

A crew from York has attended a fire alarm activation at a residential apartment block. This was a false alarm due to damage to a break glass point caused at an earlier incident.

False alarm – Chancery Court, York

Time of call: 0635 hours

2 fire crews from Acomb have investigated a fire alarm activation at a residential property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown cause.
