Incident Summary Wed 13th January - Dayshift

13th January 2016

Round up of incidents between 0730 and 1730 on Wednesday 13th January

 Road Traffic Collision – Crag Lane, Huby

Time of call: 0808 hours.  Ford pick up with 1 female occupant. Driver was uninjured. Fire crew moved vehicle to side of road using winch and manpower.

 Road Traffic Collision – High Moor Lane, North Rigton

Time of call: 0832 hours.  First car had skidded on black ice into a ditch. Second car had skidded on the same black ice and into ditch, colliding with the first car. No persons trapped or injured. Fire officer provided scene safety until arrival of Police and Highways.

 Flooding – Castlegate, Malton

Time of call: 0915 hours.  Flooding in basement of property due to high water table. Not affecting electrics. No action by Fire Service. Advice given.

 Chimney Fire – Newholm, Whitby

Time of call: 1024 hours. 

 False Alarm – Eldon Street, York

Time of call: 1047 hours.  False alarm due to fault in fire detection system.

 Road Traffic Collision – A64, Tadcaster

Time of call: 1052 hours.  RTC involving a LGV and a mini-bus. No persons trapped but the driver of the minibus – a male aged mid 30s- suffered head and internal injuries and was transported to hospital by air ambulance. Two occupants of the LGV, a male and female – also aged mid 30s – suffered no injuries. Fire crews assisted with transporting the casualty to the air ambulance and with helping Police re-open carriageway.

 Road Traffic Collision – Car park, Foss Islands Retail Park, York

Time of call: 1336 hours.  RTC involving a single car which had collided with a bollard and then a wall. 1 elderly male driver was uninjured. Fire crews made the vehicle safe using hydraulic cutting gear and hand tools, they also removed a damaged bollard.

 False Alarm – Stockwell Lane, Knaresborough

Time of call: 1538 hours.  False alarm due to cooking fumes. Advice given to occupier.

 Kitchen Fire – Church Close, Carleton, Skipton

Time of call: 1607 hours.  Fire confined to oven and caused slight fire damage to food and oven interior. Smoke detector fitted and activated. Cause was careless use of oven.

 False Alarm  – William Jacques Drive, Cliffe, Selby

Time of call: 1646 hours.  Fire crews used a thermal imaging camera to check over a car following a smell of burning. No fire located. Advice given to owner.
