Incident Summary Tuesday 19th Day Shift

Round up of incidents on the day shift Tuesday 19th January

 

Persons trapped in lift – Station Road, York

Time of call: 08:37.  Firefighters from York released a woman who was trapped in a lift car.

 

Automatic fire alarm – Shambles, York

Time of call: 10:12.  Crews from York and Acomb attended reports of a fire alarm activating but this turned out to be a false alarm. 

 

Person trapped under timber – Burton Common Lane, Burton Salmon

Time of call: 11:20.  Crews from Tadcaster, Selby and Pontefract attended and rescued a male aged 50s that had become pinned under large logs of wood.  Crews used acro props, airbags and farm equipment to affect the rescue, the male has gone to hospital for treatment. 

 

Farm Machinery on fire – Eller Gill Lane, Elslack

Time of call: 12:05.  Fire crews from Skipton attended and extinguished a JCB which had caught fire in a farm yard, 2 breathing apparatus and 2 hose reel jets were used to extinguish the fire.

 

Automatic fire alarm – Cumberland Street, York

Time of call: 14:11.  Crews from York attended reports of a fire alarm activating but this turned out to be a false alarm. 

 

Dog rescue – Reighton Gap, Reighton

Time of call: 14:47.  Crew from Filey were mobilised to rescue a dog which had got stuck in the mud.  Crews used a salvage sheet, lines, a small ladder and manpower to rescue the dog and return it to its owner unharmed. 

 

Fire Co-Responder Incident – Pickering

Time of call: 15:44.  Our Fire co-responder from Pickering attended a medical incident in Pickering and this incident was then left with the Ambulance service. 

 

Road Traffic Collision – A63 near South Milford

Time of call: 16:21.  Fire crews from Selby and Tadcaster attended this incident and assisted the 2 occupants of the vehicles involved, crews made scene safe and both persons have gone to hospital via road ambulance.

 

 Fire in the open - Ebberston

Time of call: 16:25.  Fire crews from Pickering attended reports of a glow and smoke in the distance however this turned out to be controlled burning. 

 

Gas leak – Grove Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 16:26.  Fire crews from Harrogate assisted the gas board with entry into a property and then left with them to isolate and make the area safe. 

 

 Petrol Leak from vehicle – Lysander Close, York

Time of call: 16:36.  A fire crew from Huntington attended this incident and used sand to clean up the spill.

 

Chimney Fire – Hovingham

Time of call: 16:39.  Fire crew from Malton attended this incident and used thermal imaging camera and hose reel to ensure the fire was extinguished.
